I currently have a Locosys gw-60 which I know is accurate but I don't find user friendly. I want a very simple device that shows me my current speed and average speed for last run whilst on the water and that I can link to strava on my iPhone at the end of the session. Any recommendations ? Garmin Forerunner 935 maybe ?

If you want simple, you can't beat the Timex Ironman GPS. Very simple. No wifi, no bluetooth, charge and data via micro-usb, waterproof, collect data via Timex Connect or direct to Strava through a computer. Shows speed, distance, maximum speed, and track. Workouts are saved as FIT files on the watch. Simple. Don't need more than that.

About $100 US on Amazon.

The timex looks like a great cheap option, but not sure the need to use a computer to upload qualifies it as the most simple. The Garmin ( and some other similar bluetooth) options offer true wireless upload that is mostly seamless..... it just happens when you finish your activity and the watch becomes in bluetooth range of your phone (which has the app running in the background). In the case of windsurfing, you can stop the activity as you jump off your board and it will be uploaded to Strava by the time you have started derigging with your phone in the car.

Yes, if direct connection to a phone via BT or Wifi is important, the Timex Ironman GPS is not what you want. The newer Timex R300 Ironman GPS does indeed offer this, at a somewhat higher price point, but with the disadvantage of a proprietary charge/data connection clamp like the GW-60. Hate those. The earlier simple Timex Ironman GPS uses plain ole micro-usb. Simple.

Suuntos are really nice, but they are expensive.
