What is the GPS to buy also what else is required to get into this type of recording of sailing speed. Mostly sail alone in Nsw. Where do I get the gear from.

Get a Navi GT-31 and a waterproof pouch. WindSurfnSnow sell Navis. I use a Paqua Midi I bought from Whitworth Marine. I would imagine both would do mail order if you are far from Sydney.

Maybe a shop closer to you sells this gear too.

In regards to software to retrieve results from the GPS you can purchase Realspeed or use the KA72 site.

And even though you sail alone, you can still join the GPS Team Challenge, it doesn't matter where you sail as long as 2 team members sail the same day, your results are counted.

I called Sam about gps yesterday and he said they out of stock but expecting some more in a couple weeks.

I will prob pick one up then as well and look for a Botany team to join.

How does the team thing work, not up to speed on what is involved.

Hinch, join a team, have a sail and post your session from your GPS reciever.
Session only counts if 2 team members sail on the same day, doesnt matter where it was. In Sydney there are the Cockies and the Double Demerits.
Everyone pretty much knows everyone so depending on where you sail pick your team. Be careful though, there are some pretty strange people on the Demerits
