The Locosys site has upgraded the "quick start guide" to reflect the alpha firmware. The latest watches also come with this firmware, so there's no need to update them. However retailers may still have versions with the old software in them.
Locosys says if you don't want the latest firmware they can supply you with the older version.

"Quick Start Guide" is a bit of a misnomer, it's 24 pages long, and 8mb, takes a while to download, especially if you don't have good broadband.
I was pleased to see my screen shots of the utility set up, Liptons Google Earth tracks, and a few comments.

But I had a call from Mark at Surf Sail Australia, he downloaded the manual from Locosys, but couldn't open it.
So is anybody else having problems with the latest manual???? or is Mark just experiencing some sort of Glitch.
Locosys says it's a standard .pdf file, but it didn't appear that way to Mark.

No issues. Opened with Foxit reader.

Opens fine with Acrobat Reader and Google Chrome.
Locosys do need to change the title of the PDF, as the tittle says that it is a Microsoft Word doc file.
