Here's a basic procedure that avoids the GW60 Utility and works for both PC and Mac users when uploading GPS tracks...

ON WATCH:
1. Press MODE to turn on (or return to clock screen)
2. Press ADJUST to enter settings
3. Press START 3 times to scroll up to "USB CLASS"
4. Press ADJUST and then RESET to scroll down to "UMS"
5. Press ADJUST to set UMS as default
6. Press MODE to return to clock screen

7. CONNECT USB CABLE TO WATCH THEN PLUG INTO PC/MAC

ON WATCH:
8. Press MODE to turn on (or return to clock screen)
9. Press ADJUST to enter settings
10. Press START 2 times to scroll up to "TO USB MSC"
11. Press ADJUST to connect with PC/MAC

ON PC/MAC:
12. You should now see "LOCOSYS_MSC" as a USB drive in Windows Explorer or on the Mac Desktop
13. Cut/Copy "GPSLOG.SBP" and Paste to a folder on PC/Mac*
14. Rename pasted file for future refence (eg. "GPSLOG-2016-12-28.SBP")
You can now upload this file to KA72.

This procedure worked for me with GW-60 straight out of the box (V1.0G1123E) and with firmware updated (V1.0G1206A) on PC and Mac.

* If you cut (remove) the log file each day from the watch, you can avoid having multiple days showing when uploading to KA72.

But are you sure of the above statement?
Because with my linux box, deleting the file on the watch seems to work, the file disappears and I get no error messages. But when I unplug and turn the watch on to GPS mode, distance is still there, (as well as speed genie of course), and then if I reconnect the watch to the computer. HEY PRESTO, the file I deleted is back again with the whole session still in it.
The only way I can get rid of the session is using the watch adjust button in gps mode.

lucky I used GT31 today as well no idear how to down load the GW60 plug it in and nothing comes up talk about make somthing difficult. It stoped showing me numbers 3/4 way thru my almost 26hr what tha. then started again 20 min later???

Nobody else seems to have a problem.
What operating system are you using?
If windows have you loaded the driver?
Have you read the instructions? (mine and the quickstart guide)
The above explanation by andy sails is excellent.
If you're not using windows the above should work without you doing anything else.
Windows should work once you install the driver.

And 26hrs is too much to ask of this watch without 1 or 2 recharges in breaks. IF you're doing 26hrs straight you need a different unit.

Decrepit, To clear the log, I have been using GPS>Adjust>Delete on the watch. Again, this is just a workaround for those not using the utility. Works for me!

I forgot to mention, steps 1-7 are a first time only requirement. For subsequent sessions just start at step 8.

I think you will find he means a 26knot average hour Mike, not a 26hour session.

As meaning, when the watch is connected to the computer, to use the cut or delete process from the computer, to remove the log file from the watch, so KA72 doesn't see multiple days.
This seems like a logical step, and I was very surprised when I found it didn't work.
I assume the file that the computer sees in MSC mode isn't actually the log file, but a copy of it in a different part of memory. And it gets reloaded at some stage after it's deleted.

Maybe that explains it, engineers don't have to read instructions because they're the ones that write them.

Yep mechanical engineer not computers you are correct.
I will get around to spending time on it again to see if it will work just carnt be bothered with it now.

hey byron, yeah I had problems too, bear with it, it's just a matter of becoming familiar but confusing as trying to figure it out yourself behind the computer. Turned out my first day was not a world record but me driving home. lol. Had someone do the setup for me and also talk me through it over the phone when behind the pc also made it easy. cheers

Yes it is harder than it needs to be but following the instructions above worked.
Easy to read and same results as GT31.
I have had it loose 10km of sailing in the middle of a session for some reason spears it looses satellite reception .

Seems like a few people are experiencing the odd drop out, it would be good to have some data to give to locosys.

Thanks Andy for this. Ive had non stop problems with the set up of mine but Im not real bright. Anyway, I followed your instructions and got pretty much all the way but keep getting message saying I need 8.0 kb of space to download all the way through and that's it.
Any tips please??

Thanks for these instructions, Andy. I've only just tried them out with Kellie's GPS and they seem to work fine on my desktop PC. I had been unable to get my laptop to work at all with it, but it has always had dodgy USB drivers.

Note that since the file is already named GPSLOG.SBP, it can be just uploaded straight to ka72. There is no problem there having multiple files with the same name there. This step is only required for keeping a local copy for yourself.

When you upload a file to ka72, you have the option of marking different sessions as Private. This will allow you to hide these tracks from your history. I may make this a bit more feature-rich now that it is likely more people will be uploading larger files.

Larko, try Dylan's suggestion of direct upload if space limited on your computer. I like to make a copy and rename the SBP file for future reference (as per the rules of GPSTC). Once that's done you can delete the log and history on the watch, all ready for the next session. If you get stuck give me a call.
