No idea what 'TOP' is, but MAX is the 0.200 sec maximum speed the GPS records. It is not very accurate as I is influenced by any small movements and other random errors that cancel out over more points. Better to take you 1 sec or 2 second average as this will be far more representstive of the speed you really peaked at using tha GW-60.

Daffy one of these days, you'll get the latest firmware for the watch, we put so much effort into.
Segler, Top is the history max for the division you've selected. EG if the left hand pane is 2s, having top in the right hand pane, will be the best 2s since you last zeroed the display. This will be a split screen, funnily enough, the "top" reading will be at the bottom and the last run will be at the top.
So here, I have RSLT 1A/1B set to 2s so the bottom of the split screen will be last run 2s average I had over 10kts, (speed genie set for alphas), and the top of the split will be the best since I last cleared the display.
2A/2B will the same for the 10s average, 3A/3B will be for alphas. 4A/B is turned off.

So Decrep, ..... 'speed genie set for the alphas' and your setting is 10kts.
If you gybe without dropping below 12kts, you get no alpha reading for that gybe.
Am I correct?
Wondering why my alpha display seems random.

Nup, if I drop below 10kts there's no reading. Min speed has to be above the speed genie setting.
The alpha thing is a bit strange, sometimes I get a reading even with speed genie set for speed, (27knots). There's a difference in separation calculation, so some times the watch will display alpha's that other software doesn't display, and vice versa. Also the watch doesn't calculate alphas under 300m, another difference to other sofware, most of which goes down to 100m.
