My gt-11 wont get down to business. I turn it on and it finds the sats and starts a new file but the speedo just says 0.00 even though I am definitely moving ( I put it on my bicycle).
The "Travel long?" query popped up and I think I hit the yes button and that was that, no more action.

This happened once before a couple of years ago and someone fixed it for me.
How can I make it work?

Like all things if it doesn't work stick it in the microwave, that way you'll be assured it will never work again one of the local boys should be able to get it going for you, doesn't sound like anything major.

The travel long query comes up because the GPS can't work out where it is. If you haven't travelled more than 100km since last switching on, it's usually due to poor satellite reception.
If you answer yes, it then has to go thru the process of working out where it is from scratch, this can take quite a long time. If you answer no it should start working as soon as it gets enough satellites.

Sounds a bit strange that it got satellite fixes, and started a new file, then asked the travel question, maybe it's a bit confused.

Did you try turning it off and on again?
Make sure you leave it in the open after turning on, so it gets the best possible sky view. If you answer "yes" you may have to leave it like that for several minutes.

yep i agree with decrepit just turn it on and leave it outside for 30min.
I take it you have the latest firmware.

Yes I tried turning it on and off but I didn't wait around.

I just did as you suggested Decrep and left it sitting for a while.
It seems to be recording now.
