Conclusion not music to ears of speed sailors. Dunes will get bigger due to invasion of foreign species of grasses which are salt tolerant until a king tide will cut through at neck forming an island....blah blah etc

If you can get National Parks on side, if they agree that the weeds are forming an unnatural spit, then why don't you form a volunteer landcare group and treat the weedy mounds before they link up. 3 or 4 people once a month should hold it at bay and make steady progress. Even roundup, the most environmentally sensitive herbicide, kills most things if you hit it once a month.

I am quite surprised that the author did not reference a comprehensive study done on the spit in the late '80's or early '90s by the then secretary of the Sandy Point Sailboard Club, Suzy Cummins, for her geography Masters degree at Melbourne Uni.
