I would like that we on GTC have information about total distance in current year (even on riders profile pb page, or in individial table). Total distance of current year will be great information, becouse we now have sum from day we registered on GTC, and not info for every year. I don't know for you, but for me this will be very useful information to see how many km i traveled every year.

Till that day ... we must use CSV database, and best thing is dload it on every 31.12. in the end of year, to have info of all data about that year (here we can calculate total year distance at all)
But, trying many time, and many ways of importing, allways like strange look of database, hard to edit to its final readable look. No chance to get cool table or something.

Can someone help me out what is the best way to import that CSV database in excell, what excell to use (version) and how to fix parameters in excell during importing. Thanx in advance

btw table looks great and it is easy to delete unwanted and much easier all then in excell (maybe just for me, but I like this tool now)

Anyway please write yours way to edit CSV table in excell step by step.
It will be nice to know few ways to edit GTC databaze in the end of year.
How nice is to have every year table with sum of total distance in that year.

I found that way so far:
1. download csv from gtc
2. edit in csved to remove unwanted columns and delete space between two session dates
3. save new edited csv with that editor
4. open that csv n new editor who have option to export that csv like html file
5. open that saved html file in excell and now I have "," instead of"." in decimals and have option to sum column distance

I think that us layout of database couse issue for us who us currency and layout without coma (.) when I tried to manually change look of table from 25.555 to 25,555 that don't work

From that point I would like to see your step by step navigation how to edit CSV databaze in Excell or other solutions
So far this mine method works great

Pretty simple in Excel Warrior. Here's mine from 2009. Just delete the columns you don't need, add some extra columns with gear selections etc. Write a few formulas, do a sum in the distance column to give you total distance. Anything you want the spreadsheet to do it can do.

How you open it or import it into excell
Tried few ways and allway got nothing readable except bunch of unsorted data all arond

I know in the end how to edit or add formula or sort in excell, I just can't import and get some normal table. What version of excell you use, and so on....

You've got it open in excel in above screen shot. Now start deleting a moving information around. I've only got Windows XP 2002 on home computer and no problems with CSV file opening in excel. All those pretty colours were added - somehow I don't think Nebs has the time to programme these sort of GPSTC extras

if you noticed my excell screen, all data is in one line, no tabs at all...
for edit this crap, and move it around, it will be probably few days needed...

as I know, database to excell must be imported, not opened, like
data>import.... and then there is a few steps to add some parameters, and after that i loose myself..... thanx anyway but it don't work at my end, tried with versions excell 97, 2003, 2010 - same *hit everytime :(

See that dark grey rectangle down in the bottom right hand corner. Put your pointer on it, hold down the left mouse button and move the rectangle to the left. All the other info should be there.
^Sorry just another case of foot in mouth from me.

When you download from GPSTC does your computer give you the option to save file &/or open in excel? I just select open in excel then "save as" to a specific folder. Don't think I can be of much help apart from all the incorrect advice I have given you

I just opened it in open office "calc" with no problems. I just had to select comma seperated before opening it, I suspect that's what you have to do in excell, but I don't have MS office on this machine, to try it.

yes Sausage, looking great, but that don't works any how at my end
I also click on DOWNLOAD CSV for 2011, choose open, execll starts and opens unreadable stuff like my picture above
Also tried to save first then open it in excell, and tried open excell and go to data, import, then select comma separated, same thing
I tried with 3 versions of excell

Maybe our currency and windows 1250 code page is cause of that, I don't know
As you know, we don't use "." in numbers, we use ","

in control panel I changed in regional setting "FORMAT" from Croatia to English US and now I have this in excell


Formating was cause of all that, now we all know ;)
