GPS Display Maximum Speed:23.9Knts

Conditions: probably gusting up to 17 Knts. choppy.

Equipment: 2002 Fanatic Cross 90
2003(?) KA Karve 5.8
Torquay 12" B&J fin

Details about Self:

Comments: Bought GPS (Garmin Etrex H) for work, but keen to put tracks on Google Earth, and get some idea of how fast I'm going. Not very today, but with a big bear-off on last run got going a bit.

Bout bloody time, we thought you would never get on the board Great to see you post a time, You thought of joining the Tassie speed seekers, or kicking off with a new team from your area.?

I'm not that competitive by nature, but will strap it on every now and then to see what speed I'm doing, especially if conditions are conducive to going fast.

Just join to be a member of the community, stuff the competitive side of it, it's like being a member of a club without the hassles of a club!!

Hi Easty. I am in the GTC, not to be competitive with others but because it is a tremendous way to log my sessions. From these i get encouragement from others, tips etc. which help me. Also by being in one of the teams I have been lucky enough to get coaching from others and gain some new friends.
I have to say i cannot see a downside from being in a GTC team. Perhaps it is worth a go

Easty, did you make the Etrex PC cable with a credit card?

If you get hold of the realspeed software (links from the GTC site), you can analyse your data better and start working on improving your gybing etc with the alpha racing etc. Its a great tool to just self motivate and improve yourself without the hassle and frustration of going to specific events.
BTW where's the place you launched from on the google map?

Ok Dave, seen you guys a couple of times when you head over South Arm way - I aint got any "speed" orientated gear though - may change if I get the bug. And don't lose my job.

Didn't make it, have one for work. Used a serial - usb connector cable, why don't Garmin make a direct usb cable?

Thanks, is that how you get all the other readings that are listed in the GPS Team Challenge readings? At the moment I just set up the unit to read every 2 seconds, and download into EasyGPS. Max Speed is the only useful info off the GPS I can get.
