When I drowned my GPS and it was replaced, I used the same SD card.
Instead of recording new files at the end of the old list it started again. Now I have to scroll through columns of files to open the latest one, which is now in the middle of the list, and hard to find.

Is there a way of reordering the files, or do I need to get a new SD card so the latest will be at the end of the list and easy to find?

Assuming you use a version of Windows: When you open the SD card files folder on your computer, arrange the view by DETAILS. You should see columns with name first followed by date modified, type, size etc.
Click on the heading of the Date Modified column to arrange them newest file first.

There should be a similar option in MacOS.

Alternatively, or as well, you could copy all the files from the card to a folder in your computer (for an archive record) and then format the card in the GPS to wipe it.

Thanks, I shall try those ideas.

The filename is a combination of user name, serial number and time stamp. So if you change the user name in the gps to something that starts with a letter later in the alphabet than your last one. Eg if it was WINDXTASY, change to xWINDXSTASY or something along those lines.

Theoretically the serial number should be later than the original one, if the new unit is newer. But sounds like that isn't enough to sort your files. Hope this helps.

This did work, thanks. Much easier.
Clicking on the date modified column first arranged them oldest file first but clicking it again reordered them with newest file first.

with any luck windows will remember how you viewed the file last.
As somebody else said, if it doesn't store all the old data on your computer and delete the files on the card.

The answer seems to be YES. It is easy and it's quicker than searching through all the files though.

Make sure you already have the card plugged in to the port on your computer as last time prior to hitting the "Upload" button on ka72, and it should remember the sorting in the folder.

Plugging your card reader into a different USB port every time can cause the sorting info to be lost.

Alternatively you could remove the old files off your memory card altogether. Copy them to a folder on your computer hard drive, and then wipe the card. Then you won't have this problem.

All files that have been uploaded to ka72 have been retained. If you ever need to get one back, I can help. Don't be afraid to clean house on your SD card every now and then.
