Basic question. 122L futura 7.5m uncammed sail. What's the go with getting a decent fin. Tuttlebox
Other sail would be 6.5m uncammed sail, same board.

I use a 40cm choco weedy with my 7.8 on my 122 or a 44cm C3 venom, the venom is a brilliant fin and the choco does the job.
For weedys the JP 36 cm is worth a look and with your sail sizes you may be able to go gown to a 40 or 38 pointer again l like the venoms

Black Projects Type R is a great fin in the 37.5 - 42.5 range if you have to deal with weed the Black Project WEED Speed fin is the way to go.

Second vote for the black project. I used a 7.6 tush x15 with a 37.5cm type R and it was fantastic, that was is quite choppy water as well and the fin held perfectly and cranked upwind well. You may want to go bigger, as the board you have is a bit wider. I had 33.5knots out of that setup on choppy water and have been trying to match it since (was a perfect run in a competition......the first and last time I felt like I did everything right at the right time.....its amazing what effect it has not wanting to be overtaken on a speed course)

Anders talks about having to sand his BP fins quite a lot. Have you found the same?
I'm hoping to try an Rtype 35 today in my Falcon90 with either a 7.5 or 6.7 sail so will hopefully have something good to report later tonight.

I think it depends on the fin box. I have not had to sand mine but I know some people have had to sand the top front of the base to have the fin sit completely flush. Carl needed to sand his new Type R 32,5 to get it flush in his Falcon but was very happy with how it sailed: gpsteamchallenge.com.au/sailor_session/show?date=2012-02-11&team=22

Anders is referring to sanding back the black and red strip, not the insert. I think possibly on the earlier models this strip as a little raised but the new ones I have there is no edge to the strip that can be felt by touch. I havent sanded mine back. nor have other users that I know as I did question this after Anders advised me to.

I did need to sand the box a bit on my exocets to get the fins to fit perfectly

I used mine yesterday and I was impressed. It felt rock solid even when purposely loading it up going through chop. I thought it was maybe a tad slow but comparing my speeds to others who were on the water that was an ill founded view. It was a real whistler above 27 knots so I will need to sand the trailing edge and the paint to bring that into check. Overall though, a great fin. I didn't need to sand any of the base for it to fit my box, it was a perfect fit sitting nice and flush with the board. I'd love to try the S types for comparison now too.

The red and black strip on the trailing edge of all the fins I have inspected is flush and no sanding was required I was trying to work out how they had done it as it seem incorporated into the fin.

People who try the Type S tend to come off the water wanting to buy one.....they are particularly impressed with the speed it holds through the jibe.
