Hi Everyone, yesterday was Fangy's memorial service, and a few of us discussed a Fangy Memorial/Statue/Structure for the Coodanup Foreshore. I asked his wife Michelle for permission she liked the idea and agreed for it to go ahead. So the first step is to come up with an idea that is doable. Then we would have to get Council approval, and then construct and install. So can I ask for people to brainstorm the ideas that would work and be a worthy memorial to the great man. Please post your ideas on this thread.
Ps. Any constructive feedback on the ideas put forward would also be helpful.
What about a bench seat with a plaque, overlooking Fang's playground, and as Mike suggested if possible incorporate a fang fin. I'd be happy to donate towards it.
The simplest #1 idea I can think of that has the highest chance of getting council permission is a simple Sundial with a single polished Fangy fin as the gnome. The hr lines could be standard or Fangy/windsurf related, i.e. design time, rig up, Fang time, beer o'clock etc with some witty plaque underneath.
Other ideas to follow but it should be noted I have a bunch of Fangy inspired fins photo below (this not the complete set) that can be donated to the project if required. I am sure Michelle has at least the same amount or more of experimental fins she doesn't know what to do with, so more crazier/brainstorm ideas (much less likely to pass council approval) below.
#2 Fangy fin tree sculpture...a bunch of all these fins bolted to a cone shaped structure. Could be placed above head height to reduce safety concerns.
#3 Game of Thrones "Fangman chair", replace all the swords with Fangy fins or windsurf related junk (as Ross couldn't throw anything away). Could change this concept to a simpler bench.
#4 Fangy fin kinetic structure that moves/spins in the breeze..again above head height
#5 Fangy fin rainbow arch.
#6 Fangosauras. Fangy fins look similar to Stegosauras plates so make a steam punk stegosaurus using junk and fins as the armour.
I know Ross has a bunch of epoxy and donated some to me so could encase hazardous objects/edges in epoxy.
I'm no artist but happy to help with construction if I can.
