To kick off the new season I have commissioned our very own Anita Staaden to craft this beautiful glass trophy to be awarded to the sailor with the best 5 x10 done at Fangy's. The comp runs from 1st October 2014 to 31st April 2015.
The Judge's decision is final. The judge's decision maybe biased, incorrect and unfair. The judge can be bribed. The judge may have reservations about your chair.
To enter, simply bribe the judge or send me your results for 5x10 done at Fangy’s within a week of doing it during the season.
It is a perpetual trophy that will be yours to keep until the start of the 2015 season. Then you will have to give it back to me for the next winner to strive/bribe for.
The trophy will be presented at a BBQ on the foreshore at Fangy’s when I get around to it.
This is trophy is meant to be a fun and social thing. Please don’t get too serious about it :-)

Many thanks to Anita(windxstasy) for making the trophy - it is more beautiful in the flesh - the photo does not do it justice!
cheers

Is that a delta fin encased in glass? If so a good way to stop them getting dinged up.

Great idea Sir Fangman, I hope to actually get to sail at your local some time in the season!

Is that for a 5x10 done on a nanna chair or windsurfer?

I hadn't thought of that! But will leave to Keef to nut it out on how to do it

gee there is a lot I hadn't thought of already. I reckon nanna chair is ok as long as it does not have any of the Coastal Nannas usual seat 'enhancements'.

Fantastic Idea, though it will be obvious when my name's engraved on it in may next year, that it was Bribe Money

Loving your work with the bribe money idea I think you are winning at the moment...

Hards, I just have thus vision of you out on the outer weed bank, with your crutches stuck in the mud and crabs nibbling at your toes, with a glorious sunset at your back. Everyone is on shore at the BBQ's enjoying an ale and, someone will eventually say" hey has any one seen Hards?"......

Perhaps you could have a comp with the Nanna chairs vs Crutches?

Actually while I think of it Hards, can I book your band for the presentation BBQ. You only have to play one song: Broken Leg by Blue Juice

Hmmmm, this gives me an idea going forward from our one off intra NSW team challenge back in 2012.
Fang, do you mind if we "borrow" your idea and do a NSW edition?? No competition, just another bunch of like minded nongs.
What say you??

Great idea Ross, but do you need to define "Fangys"? Does it include creerys lagoon for instance, or extend to Yunderup?
I think we need a map with a dotted line, so we can superimpose tracks on it and make sure any 10s run doesn't cross the no go line.

Fangy's is just the Coodanup foreshore area. ( the length of Peel Parade) But I am not getting serious about this and will simply take people at their word that their time was done reasonably close by. It's really a fun and social thing - and besides I am counting on being bribed :-)

Looks great Anita!
I know it's a pain trying to get photos that do artworks credit and glass works would be even harder!

Fangy took that picture himself (after me telling him how difficult is is to get good photos of glass because everything reflects in it).
It is a better photo than I have. I might have to make him my official photographer...

Sorry Anita, I am giving up glass photography to indulge my passion with chair photography. Elmo has shown me the light! He is the true master of chair photographers!

The trophy has so much fine detail that you can only really appreciate in real life, especially when you rotate light through it at different angles. For instance, the little speed wakes coming off the back of the fin, or the detail on the shells on the sea floor. It is very special and I love it. In fact I think I might start bribing myself.

The competition is now on - yesterday I set the bar pretty high with a impressive 17.1 knots! But it's early days yet, so don't be discouraged, there is always a chance in the next few months that someone might be able to better that. Good luck

It is very fitting that you should be the first in WA to post a score this month, let alone first at Fangy's.
Obviously you are very keen to keep that trophy!

Trophy update : On the weekend JJ was looking good for a very sweet 5 x 10 at Fangy's, the first being 37.85 knots. Unfortunately he then decided to be JJ Von Hidenburg and crashed and burned in Oscar winning performance. So the official speed to beat is still walking pace. ( of course JJ has not chance of getting the trophy because his Nanna chair is rubbish - but don't tell him that because he is very good entertainment when he is trying)
