i'd like to see this guy win the slalom and speed for 2010 before he considers retiring

i heard in the ledge to lancelin he was on something like a 9.5m.

conditions were 20+ knots and very large swell.

how he was able to sail so deep off the wind [from the 3rd mark to 4th mark]
in those very large swells with strong gusts coming through, on a sail that size, only god knows!

i needed to be on a 5.0m or smaller to reach the 4th mark in one leg,the wind really picked up.

to retire while still in top 5 or 10 in the world, i don't think so.

I had the pleasure of sailing (and partying) with bjorn at the Canary Islands on quite a few occasions. He is a machine and in my view one of the greatest athletes in the world. Chased him around (tried) for days back in the early '90's and learnt more about sailing than I have in the entire time i've been doin it.
Don't ask how he does it.....
just admire.

I've sailed with him at Weymouth speed week, the videos do not do him justice, he easily stood out on speed course and like Tony says, he sails like a machine. Relentless.

Stronger, faster & fitter than most. He has said in interviews that he is suprised that the younger ones are not beating him.

Still highly competitive and still able to take top spot on the podium. For sure, there's a few good years left in BD.

Bjorn Dunkerbeck is the Roger federer of windsurfing, i dont think there will be ever another bjorn dunkerbeck.

I met him in 2002 in the Mentawai Is. He was on a nearby boat, and I went over to say hi.
He was a nice guy and I had half hour chat. Huge bloke !!

I have a pic of him up in my room of him riding a 7.8 warp F2 north sail in 12-14 knots and it looks like he is sailing in 30 knots, he is flying. He seems to like big sails

He's the Roger Woods of windsurfing!

He was good enough to pose for pictures and have a chat with the crew when he was at Woodies a few weeks ago for a Starboard/Severne photo shoot. He mentioned that he had flown to WA on three seperate occasions this season

It was a bit surreal to see hiim sailing at Woodman Point with the whole S/S pro team

I think they were there for the lack of crowds, not the world class conditions
