Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water without getting run over....along comes another speed event. They may have a rocket up their a%$e and be playing catch up by next week.

Fast times for speedsailing with Sailrocket, Salt & Speed and Luderitz Speed Challenge all happening at once.

Bloody hell - speed canals are the new black!

We need one over here just to stay competitive!

Where is the consistently windiest (from one direction) place in Australia? Somewhere North of Geraldton?

Rossco from Shark Bay Cottages & Mac Attack Charters swears he knows, reckons it blows 40 to 50 kts on a strong seabreeze funelling in a Venturi Situation only probs are no flat water and difficult access, a Canal up that way in a Venturi Location would be the go, but imagine trying to do anything to the natural envt in WA, unless you're a rich miner of course?

Sellicks beach SA blows like fark straight off shore due to gully winds over summer but no way would the locals let a speed run be built on their beach and the ones in the water down there are well known for their pointy big teeth

I often look with envy at frequent 50+ knot fronts that roll through SW Tassie coast each winter. But I doubt you'd find 1 sq meter of "diggable" land in that area.

In SA, Kangaroo Island is a good candidate as it also has frequent 40+ knot fronts and there are a lot of shallow lakes of various shapes and sizes on there already.
