Super light wind cruise around Fangy's paddock at Coodanup in some glorious sun. First time flying the FPV drone around moving subject so don't be too harsh on flying skills. Need to try and master FPV as they fly 3+ times faster than regular consumer drones as only way to keep up in stronger winds. Almost flew through Richo's sail and only just managed to punch out in time as you can probably see.

Geeze that water is flat . You could leave a opened can of beer on the front of the board and it will still be there at the end of your run .

Yep, fantastic Fangy's weed's just starting to happen, with any luck later it will be like that at 30kts, for 2km runs.

That looks great and good fun for a change. What fins are you using? Could I sail it with a 45 deg weedy or only with a fangy?

I was using a Fangy Fin 18, the other guys were on 18 and 20 deltas (I think Tribal). Water depth is the main concern...any deeper fin and you'll hit bottom unless you stay well out

Like Flex pointed out water depth mainly is the reason for smaller fins but also top surface weed can possibly send you over the handlebars if you hit them at lower speed if not on a delta. Started with 18 Tribal Delta but in the drone shots was on a 14 Tribal Delta. Water being so flat still hit just over 30 knots in 13-15 knots of wind no spin outs on the gear which was a 7.1 KAR and 88L 59 Manta.

I was on a 55deg the other day and felt some big tugs from weedburgs, I think I would have gone over the handle bars with a 45.
It's ok when the sun is behind you, the burgs are only small and easy to see, but with the sun in front, they become invisible. I was surprised at how many I hit when I couldn't see them.

I've used a 23cm Vector 45 deg weedy in the past. It's fine for all but the heaviest weed, but you need to keep your momentum up. If you fluff a gybe in a weedy patch, it can be difficult to get going again. As Jim says, the other option with a longer fin is to just hang out wide, nice long runs and still pretty flat, just not glass.

As usual, nice work Flex. That drone really hikes about! As for what fin to use, after a week of decent sunshine, just bring your golf clubs, on a low tide the 'greens' are looking lush now. Next week's cold front should clear out the floaty stuff before it get's too thick for too long.

Looking forward to playing on the green soon. Should I bring a sand wedge for the bunkers

Soz Kato, you obvi didn't get the news. The border is closed again. (I guess there was just too much risk that Clive Palmer will try to sneak back in again) I went for a walk around out on the flats this morning and I reckon put booties at the top of your packing list. The crabs are starting to appear. Very small and not many atm, but about 4 weeks ahead of schedule for here!

Maybe at the start, but by half down the run, I find empty cans really difficult to balance on top of each other.

In a place like that , you could chop off the curvy front of the board . It's not like your going to hit a wave or anything . Stop the board at the mast I recon . Add the front of the board to the back so that you can sail while laying in a hammock . Possibly getting a little nap in on those 3 km runs .

Cool video Jim . FPV footage on UT is cool as well. I was watching a down hill mountain bike race through a European seaside town last week. I felt like I was flying through the Death star in the Millennium Falcon.

What is the GPS between the harness lines and where did you get them. So functional.

Jim made them himself, thread here www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Gps/Another-DIY-GPS-logger-approach?page=14#13
