Hi Guys,

is their a way to use your phone to upload results to KA72, GPSTC etc? I know you can get USB adapters so can surely plug watch in? Not usually a problem for me although it would be nice to be able to post before I return home as It doesn't make me popular at home when I return from a long session only to pull out the laptop.

If you can plug in a usb memory stick and get data out of it, it could be possible, as long as you change the GW60 out of COM mode. If you have gpslogit loaded you may even be able to process the data.
It would take some experimenting, I really have no idea

Interesting thought. I have one of those adapters for my phone, if I plug a USB stick into it, the phone reads the stick as if its an inserted micro-SD card. I never bothered plugging the watch in because I had to install a USB driver on the laptop, and even its a bit flaky.

It would be pretty cool to be able to upload results from the field, KA72 and GPSTC all seem to work fine in Chrome on my late model Android phone.

I think you have a point there, I forgot about the usb driver, but still worth a try.

I plugged the watch into the Android phone using the adapter. The watch started charging but nothing else happened.

Did you still have it in COM mode? To conect as a usb device you need to change modes to UMS, here's the extract from the manual.

UMS: USB Mass Storage for non-Windows platform user.
(Note: Set UMS before entering "MSC mode"on 3.14)
3.14
TO USB MSC: Connection by Mass Storage Class (MSC)
mode mainly for non-Windows platform user.
Tip: How to get GPS data in USB MSC mode
(1) Set"USB CLASS"option to"UMS"first.
(Note: Before setting, the USB charging cable MUST be
disconnected.)
(2) Connect to USB, and press ADJUST/
? "TO USB
MSC"to enter USB MSC state.
(3) Find a new flash drive with a READ only file-
GPSLOG.SBP on your host PC.
(4) Remove USB cable to exit.

One more step. You have to make sure that the phone supports OTG-USB (on the go usb). Not all phones do.
