A few people have mentioned having trouble combining files lately, so went thru the process myself and took some notes.

1 Open the first file as normal.

2 Instead of "opening" the 2nd file, import it instead, (go to "file" then "import")

3 go to "View" select "Divisions"

4 right click over "Track Files" and select "Create Combined File"

5 expand "trackfiles" (click the "+" sign), then select the combined file.

Anybody else had trouble with the later versions of real speed producing a big invalid in the combined file?
Version 1.911 produces a nice clean file, but later versions have a big invalid spike in the combined file.

Thanks for that Decrepit.

These sorts of instructions need to be a sticky or go on the GPS Challenge site or the proposed Seabreeze Wikipedia.

How do you go about getting older versions of Realspeed? I have 1.925. I wouldn't mind blowing away Windows Vista on my laptop and sticking XP on, just worried about my rego for Realspeed disappearing. Vista seems to be made from molasses.

Moby, yes I'm sure you'd need to ask Mal for a new registration code, I'm fairly confident if you explain you're situation he won't charge you.

I haven't deleted all my old versions of realspeed as I updated, so I still have a few older ones usable.

Mineral,

I had some problems with Elmo's file, I think in the end I called someone else Elmo... he sent me another file so I'll redo the thing and post it again on the site.

I really like seeing a race replayed again, when I'm on the water I'm too busy concentrating on not hitting someone to worry about how the overall race is going

Tis not me, I raced 1st and last race each time I just rocked up to the start line as the flagged dropped.

The real deciding factor is that they can gybe.

Don't know who it is

Have a suspicion it may be Ado,

I think on the first one he was blasting around at the start, I know he went whistling past me as casual as can be

Hi Elmo,

Yes it's Ado (I just worked it out).

Can you resend me your track please?

Hey guys, thanks for raising this issue. I have fixed the problem for the next release (1.926) and just getting a few guys to help test it for me before posting it up.

While we are talking about guides etc... are the default.rsp files on the gpsteamchallenge site the current best to use ?

I just wondered if they have the doppler on for all, I seem to remember using it when I first started with the program and having to change the setting. But it could be my memory. And I think we are not meant to have doppler for Alpha is that right ?

thanks.

El hard one, yes Doppler for all but one division, track point for Alpha in your set up RSpeed program is the way to go.

Arrr... well, it is up to you if you wish to use Dopper speeds for everything, but for at least the rest of this year Trackpoints for everything is the standard. This decision was taken to keep a more level playing field because there are reportedly some people who are still using non-Doppler capable GPS devices (Garmins)

use the RSP file called TRACKPTSPEED.RSP from here:

http://www.intellimass.com/RealSpeed/Divisions.htm

If you use a GT-11, Trackpoints seem still to be the best for ALPHAS but if you are using a GT-31, use Doppler for Alphas (Change the setting by editing that division). There are some very strange results for Alphas and Trackpoints from the current GT-31 firmware. We are working on a solution for it and I will involve a firmware update in the near future.

Took a bit longer than I had hoped, but I have finally posted up the beta for RealSpeed 1.926 (beta 5). It contains fixes for a number of problems including the merging files. I have also added 3D doppler, improved the calculation speed for the one hour result and made the interface work a little nicer. You can now run an RSP with many divisions without having to wait for all of them to calc.

You can try out the new software by downloading the self-extracting zip file from http://www.intellimass.com/RealSpeed/1.9/RSpeed%201.926%20B5.exe.

I hope to make the official release by the weekend depending on any final issues we might find.

Thanks to Decrepit, Tom and Andrew for their help and feedback.

Many thanks for that, TimeMachine, it's downloading now.

For the non-excessively geeky, here's the correct link:

http://www.intellimass.com/RealSpeed/1.9/RSpeed%201.926%20B5.exe

Edit: Man that is a metric cr@pload quicker!!! Well done mate, it makes RealSpeed quite useable on my old mac laptop (which is emulating an intel processor...)
