We may have found a fix for Canmores that have big holes in their data.
While trying to improve my DIY logger I came across and article, that said SD cards write speed deteriorates as they fill up, and they need to be reformatted to restore their write speed. Also it says the standard computer formatter doesn't do a great job. For good results use "SD Formatter".
I passed this on to Fangy, who's Canmore misses almost as many points as it records, and he had given up using it.

He duly downloaded SD Formatter, and reformatted his Canmore (delete logs first). He now reports no missing points in a 15min test.

So if anybody wants to duplicate this test, to confirm it's efficacy that would be good.

Great find! I can't reproduce it with Canmores since I never use them anymore, but I have had similar issues with a GoPro. On the original GoPro, just deleting files from the card worked fine for many years. On a newer model, the recordings would just stop randomly after a few uses. Reformatting the card in the GoPro fixes the problem. Never tried SD Formatter, but I'd assume that would also work.

Mac version of SD Formatter here:

www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/index.html

I used the Overwrite option as per website info "What is the difference between Quick and Overwrite format methods?Quick format deletes all the file/directory entries by initializing file system parameters of the card, but it does not delete the data written in files. Overwrite format deletes file/directory entries by initializing file system parameters of the card (same as with Quick format), and erases all data by overwriting the user data area completely. The Overwrite format takes more time to complete than the Quick format method."
