For a non techie is it pretty easy to get your speed data off and put onto the site?

If you have a Mac it is super easy. Just beware, when you eject it from you computer make sure to physically remove the device as soon as the icon disappears. Otherwise, your canmore will start storing junk files and you will have to erase all the data on the unit.

I find it very simple as long as you eject it properly.

I am the least techie dude I know and I have been able to work it out.
The only thing that has caught me out is the hidden data that you need to delete every so often.
Just do a search on canmore on this forum and you will find the tricks.

The biggest problem with the canmore, is that it misses data points out, some software interprets this as invalid and doesn't give results with missing data points.
And as mentioned, there's a bug that can fill the memory up with junk, this also happens if you let the battery go flat.
For a non tech person, this could be a hassle.

My wife and I have used Conmore GPS devices for the last few years and found them to be acceptable. They have for us been difficult to get a decent life out of as they are extremely sensitive to water . We try to keep them out or harms way thru the use of waterproof bags , non of which are actually waterproof . Zip top plastic bags , sandwhich bags, Tupperware boxes are still inclined to let water in. Unfortunately we have had five units fail in two years . We have purchased two GW50 watches . Problem gone . I believe that in the long run they will be less expensive plus they are MUCH EASIER to use than the Canmore.

You get what you pay for with the Canmore. Spend the extra and get the GW60. Failing that, there should be a few second hand GT31 and GW52 coming onto the market, following the release of the GW60

I would add that the GT-31 is probably the easiest to use for non techies as, once it is set up, all you do is take the SD card out and copy the files to your computer.

But the biggest advantage of the GW60 is the waterproofing, so no need for waterproof arm bags and very little chance of loosing your data to water flooding when the bag goes wrong.

Maybe the gw60 is the way to go then. Based on people's experiences with the other Locosys gps's what do you reckon expected life is? 3 or so years??

Well my GT11 is still going from 10 years ago, but the battery is really due for replacement, it's probably down to a quarter of it's original working time. And I guess my GT31 is about 8 years old, not sure about the battery in that it's never run out, still works as good as new.
The watch is something new and untested over time. We'll have to see how long the waterproofing and straps last. I'm not sure about battery replacement either. There are 6 screws holding the back on so presumably it can be opened up to replace battery, but you'd have to be sure of it's seal when you put it back together. New battery life in GPS mode is about 7hrs, if that drops down to a quarter, you're not going to sail for long without recharging.

I have a cheap slazenger water proof watch, and the irreplaceable strap on that has broken. I guess it's about 5 years old.
But as long as the antenna part of the strap is OK, you could still wear the watch in a mini pouch.
