Hi all,

My GT31 unfortunately had an encounter with my 18 month old son, who has nice sharp new teeth that he loves to test out on anything he can get his hands on.

It still works as a data logger, but obviously I don't have any control over it as the joystick is totally gone.

Does anyone have a drowned GT31 or similar that I could use to resurrect my unit? Willing to cover postage costs etc.

Cheers
James

Did he swallow it? Well..just a thought.
Might still be ok when you get it back...

Why not contact Locosys for a replacement.

Does the mouse-tip/trackpoint from a Dell or IBM laptop work?

The Dell ones have a bigger square hole than the IBM one's, but they may work. If you can't get a replacement, then maybe one of these with a glob of silastic in it would work.

It wouldn't be water resistant anymore, but then they really need to be kept in an aquapac anyway.

If you get stuck, I can send you a spare IBM trackpoint cap to try if you want. I bought a bunch of them from China for a couple of dollars.

Haha, my wife managed to dig the rubber piece out of his mouth but it was torn/chewed and no sign of the little stem that goes inside it. Joys of having children! Didn't notice it in the nappy but didn't really dig too deep

Thanks sam, if you could bring one of those dead ones to hawks nest that would be great. cheers everyone.

Must admit, if the nappy change is 3 in the morning it's not going to be much fun

No worries, just stick it in the fridge until you're more awake.

Gold!!!

Mind you, it might be a bit stiff by then for a proper dissection -> not to worry though; a couple of minutes in the microwave on the "defrost" setting should sort that out nicely.

Mmm.. first the fridge and then the microwave. I daresay the missus'd banish you from the house for attempting that little sequence -> save it for the next time the conditions are on for an epic speed session and the missus has got her hooks in you to do some job 'round the house that day instead.

See, there's a silver lining to every used nappie.

'Later!!
