Hey Pit Crew...where is the best place to go for a dependable (sort of...I know there's really no such thing ) long range forecast for Sandy Point?

I'm planning on coming across for the Speed Fortnight, but I can only swing a week off work, so it will be a Speed Week for me. Rather than lock in the dates I am considering leaving it till the last minute and booking my flights for somewhere in the two week window, depending on the prognosis for wind. I want to maximise my TOW and my chances of scoring epic SP! I'm also bringing some big kit, so I can still sail in 15-18K, but obviously the objective is to score 25K+ and have a genuine crack at topping 40K.

Any advice?

you see it's blowning its socks off at the moment but the angle is not good. SW is the go.

The Pit is very frontal,best wind WSW so keep an eye on the fronts that are headed our way. We have,nt had a lot of luck with the right winds lately.The tide also has to be right too.An in comming tide is not so good, too many pressure waves comming back up the course. Not at lot of fun at 40 Kts but guaranteed to get your heart beat up. There is also a strip that works in a westerly,be very good right now except its dark and cyclonic Hope you bring the good wind with you.

The Windfinder graphic is also very good. I generally find that and Windguru a pretty good combination. But also be aware of the Tide movements. They are vital to getting the best conditions. The perfect wind can be totally useless if the tide is wrong (too high or rushing in).
