I've been using a Garmin watch to track my sailing for about 2-3 years now. I have the Garmin App connected with Strava. I'd like to do some additional analysis and was wondering what software exists for analyzing GPX data. What are your favorites and why?

Gpsresults, apart from the standard categories you can add more customized ones, gives you the wind polar diagram, capacity to upload to Google earth, split or combine your files. I use the feature to check how wide are the jibes that did not fit into the 50 m gates for instance. You can have a free demo version, then pay a small fee for a license, but you will have to get a new one if you change computer.

Speedreader is more basic, but free of license requirements for a voluntary donation, runs on Java.

By design SpeedReader doesn't process .GPX files. But it may process .fit files, although I doubt it.
GPSARPro is another alternative, if you want to compare sessions at an "event" it will do a regatta replay.

The GPS Results bloke was quick to send out a new code when I replaced my computer.

Its a bit fiddly but you can split files and delete the part of the track when you left the logger on while driving home.

If you like seeing your data on a phone Windsport Tracker works pretty well. It imports GPX and SPB files. You might even be able to figure out a way to send the file from your watch to your phone so you can do some analysis in the carpark.

GPS Action Replay is another good one.
Saves as GPX files.
Doppler and positional speed graphs.
All sorts of analysis of data...acceleration rate, centrifugal force, gybe radius, polars, upwind, Vmg, apparent wind.
HDop Sdop and VSdop graphs.
It has a nice gybes analysis function and also for tacks.
Easy to split files and chop sections out if you've been in the car.
Great software.

Another vote for GPS Results and ditto speedy response for a new code when I replaced my laptop and lost the code..

To delete the end of a track, have you tried the 'set timelimits' in the extras tab? You can specified a start and end time then save the trackpoints remaining.
