This is a personal idea and not anything formal to do with GPSTC. Just had this idea that given foiling is becoming so popular and people like to record their sessions to GPSTC, what about creating a foiling identity such as HardieFoil, StroppoFoil ElmoFoil etc, so you can record your foiling sessions separately and see your progress with pb's and top 5's? At least this way we're not asking Ben/Nebbs to have to do any coding/extra work??

It's a yes from me I would love to keep track of my foil PBs and watch my progression. There was talk of adding a section for foils and kites? This would be optimum for me as I could sail for 2 seperate teams in different conditions.

It's hard enough remembering my logon details now, having as many usernames as brain cells may be a bit taxing

Hi,
I know everyone will have an opion on this so he is mine .

GPSTC has never been set up to monitor progress in each type of equipment. For example race board, formula,
light wind slalom, speed boards, bump and jump etc.

Ka72 has a category for foiling where you can track your progress. Ka will let you know in each category if you have a best in location, best in a year, best ever anywhere.

Thanks

This is true, this is why a lot of us put in the equipment details in the session comments so we can download the yearly CSV file and sort through what we did with what gear and suss out gear PB's.

Ka72 has a category for foiling where you can track your progress. Ka will let you know in each category if you have a best in location, best in a year, best ever anywhere.
KA72 Personally, I'm sorry I have zero interest in using this service, although a convenient webpage for those intimidated or can't be stuffed learning how to use recognized analyzing software, it is severely limited in the benefits of track analysis it provides (apart from the result) and from my limited use of it the results have been questionable a high percentage of the time.

Thanks

What Hardie is suggesting will not have any impact on any part of the challenge apart from having some new members pop up.

What it will allow is for the members to track their individual PB's against their HF name, their overall PB's will be just part of the general ranking quagmire somewhere down near the bottom of the list.

Agree with this. I think the main thing is the distance. Im crap at both but if your foiling then the k's arent really windsurfing k's. Doesnt seem fair to those that have no interest in foiling.

OK, we've been through this with the advisory board, the problem with dual identities in one team means you can have a 1 sailor team post, so it's no longer a team.
On Nebs to-do list is a separate foiling section.
Or I guess there could be separate foiling teams. There was a proposal to just have one foiling team per state, that way it would be a true state versus state comp. As Hardy says, wouldn't be hard to set up.
But dual identities in any team is out.

I like just one id as I like to keep my kms odometer ticking over and pbs foiling isn't to hard to find just look in my data if I need to . Foil speeds and slapper speeds are easy to see which is which there not even close to each other at the end of the year I usually work my total seshes and distance between both on my data

Personally, I'm ok with what is there at the moment, my foiling is never going to affect any numbers the team produces same as when I post a wave sailing session (pure gloating there).

The intentions are well intended, but....

Simple is good, it ain't broke, it doesn't need fixing

I just noticed that when you select the "windfoil" session type on KA72 that the "Post to GPSTC" button doesn't appear. Not sure if this has been deliberately left out or not?

Also if there was a seperate 'foiling identity' in the normal GPS-TC it would affect the distance rankings. Not saying that is the end of the world, just pointing it out, as I could upset some team scores.

Elmo (speaking in the turd person) can dent anything and usually does, including Elmo.
