Lilacs looking good for some speed sailing over next few days.

Meteye says:
Wed ESE 25-27kts all day
Thu E 27-32kts morning, tending ENE 25kts late afternoon
Fri ENE 20-23kts all day

Tides looking favourable too for some nice speeds. I'll be taking a demo WindTech Cruise Missile down for anyone who wants to go for a test ride. Lilacs is the perfect playground for this board - designed with speed and NM runs in mind.

Hope to see plenty of WA speedsters down there!

Heading down at Christmas for a week or so, what tide is ideal?

You'll get a sail regardless of tide, but make sure you have a delta fin.
if it's westerly try The bay on the inside of Quaranup Rd. Beautiful spot to sail but the Water is pretty shallow so again, you'll need a delta

In 30kt+ winds on Thursday morning the tide was a bit too high for smooth water, but let you get into the whole NM run. In the arvo the water level had dropped and water was smoother and weed more on the surface. This weed is highly abrasive, and chews up the leading edge of G10 or carbon fins, whereas a fangy aluminium one just gets polished.



So 0.7 is just a tad high 0.5 would be close to ideal On Wednesday we got out about 12:30 and it was a tad low.
In lighter winds, the chop isn't as pronounced, so deeper water would still be a flat sail
