Hi

I have previously bought an adjustable outhaul set from Surf Sail in Perth which includes 4 clamps but only 2 cleats.

Would anyone know where I can buy additional 2 cleats only?

The two extra clamps (brown ones) are just a different size if you have a skinnier boom.

You only need two cleats one for each boom arm. have look at one set up down the beach or go to a shop. It quite simple once you see ine set up

Hi Bender

thanks for this.

I have used to two blue clamps for my 'fat' boom and now I'd like to use to two brown ones for my skinny boom (in this way I'll have adjust outhal for most of my flat water sails).

This is why I'm only looking for the cleats (guess I'm too cheap to buy a new full set)

After a jam cleat slip on the boom where the entire jam cleat setup slipped down to the rear of the boom I replaced the packing rubber sleeve with amalgamating rubber tape (Rubberweld). This grips the boom and the clamp with a slightly adhesive surface that you can wind around the boom and depending on the number of wraps the thickness is also adjustable.
Worked perfectly since.

Hey Fullmoon,

I had exactly the same problem, Bender suggested exactly the same solution, and I've had exactly the same amount of problems since: zero

It works well

Hey Nebs or fullmoon. Where can you get Rubberweld from? My adjustable outhaul collapsed yesterday.

Annika,

It's in Bunnings near either the painters tape, or plumbing section. It's used to repair leaking pipes etc.

God I hate how Bunnings is 'organised'.

Hey guys,
another way to stop the clamp slipping down the boom......., put one end of the outhaul adjuster rope (knotted) under the clamp and lock it to the boom this way (instead of tying rope around boom tube in front of clamp).
Those clamps never slip with the rope jammed in there as well.

thanks - spoke to a guy from Newcastle Rigging & Chandlery yesterday. They dont stock the cleats only. Guess I'd have to call the importer (Ronstan) and see if they have sold any cleats only here in AUS!

Why don't you put the rope through the hole underneath the cleat? I think that's what it's there for.

No holes on my clamps......at least 10 years old though, maybe they have added a hole?
