How are you feeling today, Snides? A bit sore?

If not you should be! What an awsome effort.

So are you going to try for 500?

Yes a truly outstanding effort from Snides.
I called him at about 7.10 am to see where he was - i was going past secret harbour about 20 km north of manduarh - I expected i was way ahead of him - he advised me he was just coming over the bridge a few minutes away from hardies. This means he left home just after 5.30 am!
I got there at about 7.30 and he was just about rigged - he was on the water going strong at 8am with his bouyancy vest stocked up with milo bars etc.
In the first hour and a half I did 30nm and I saw Snides about 2 and a half hours in - he had done 100km - eaten the milo bars at full tilt - never stopping.
I saw him around 1pm - he came in and changed down and wolfed down half a pack of jelly snakes!
The afternoon he just ground out the ks like a machine - he just never stopped - truly outstanding. Off the water just after 8pm, home at 10.30 pm!! 17 hours and counting!!
I called him this morning just after 7 - at work already!!!

World's best!!

Truly amazing... When Sam first did 404 km, I thought that will stand for a loonnnngg time. But now, there are two total nutters And, a whole heap of other nutters who have done 200+ km. I broke 100 km for the first time yesterday, I was counting down how many runs I had left as I was doing it... Can't see myself breaking 200 km, ever Let alone 400 km!!!

Good one snides!

cheers guys, dont know anything about a world record? is there such a thing?
anyway feeling pretty good now only some stiffness in the elbows which i hope to exercise out with some coldys tonight
never intended to sail that far,the plan was to team up with 25 and get 200 ave for a point, and to give 25 a leg up in the rankings.
as pedro described things where going nicely and i had 200 on the clock for my 1st stop at around 1.00pm a few snakes(bad, bad idea) and a change down to a 5.8
saw me go to 300 a then a quick trip to shore for a water top up.
before starting again.
i have to say if it wasnt for some prompting by the 2 Chris's and a promise of a slab i wouldnt of gone any further.
i have to congratulate Pedro and Claude for chomping out the k's
well done Pete on a massive pb and a catapult up the rankings!!!!!!!
and well done Claude on another lazy!!!!!!250k's to bring up 10,000ks farking awesome!!!
here is the google
and i will add some stats to the challenge site later tonight..

Super-human effort.

Any idea what your ave speed was not including snack breaks?

cheers Porka,
not sure what that would be i am guessing around 20kn? i use gps pro to look closely at tracks but in this case the file size is aprox 4mb and it has slowed my little laptop to a snails pace.
Realspeed opened it in a blink but i havent tried examining the track in close up on it,not sure how to either.
really the day was pretty pedestrian compared with Sam's 404 last year where he absolutley motored

Snides,
Now see what you and Sam have started. Next it'll be if you haven't sailed 400+ km in a day then you're soft.

This GPSTC could be bad for your health too - they'll be more than hungry when they finish. Looking forward to an update this afternoon.

And to think there was talk of dropping the distance division a while back
Most of us don't live anywhere where we can do big numbers like this, but hell it's awesome to see that some can, amazing

Firie,
You only need to sail from Cairns to Green Island and back 7.5 times to equal Snide's record. Too easy.

I, on the other hand, need to sail from Yeppoon to Great Keppel and back 13.5 times - that really puts it into perspective for me (and the impossible basket).
