Absolutely awesome, well done Sam. That distance is equivalent to across Bass Strait and back, with some to spare (Bass Strait is 198 km at it's narrowest). Sounds like powered up sailing the whole time, which must have pushed the endurance. Raises the bar a couple of notches that session.

What an amazing 1 hr as well!!!

The amazing thing was - he had 3 hours over 25+ knots and the worst hour he did was cruising with me and was 23 knots. He was definately in a zone and flying. Good to be part of it.

I did 80km's at the Murray Mouth yesterday as was quietly stoked with myself. I even pulled up a bit sore this morning.

Now I just feel old and soft.

Big effort Mr Doecke - congrats.

Sam gave me the four tracks for the day to stitch up and here is some data on his hours.

5 best 3600 second (at least) average = 46.48km/h [25.10Knots]

3600 second run n°1 = 48.36km/h [26.11Knots] (48,358.2 m. in 3,600.000 s.)
3600 second run n°2 = 47.27km/h [25.52Knots] (47,265.8 m. in 3,600.000 s.)
3600 second run n°3 = 46.77km/h [25.26Knots] (46,774.5 m. in 3,600.000 s.)
3600 second run n°4 = 45.08km/h [24.34Knots] (45,082.5 m. in 3,600.000 s.)
3600 second run n°5 = 44.90km/h [24.24Knots] (44,901.1 m. in 3,600.000 s.)
3600 second run n°6 = 43.24km/h [23.35Knots] (43,242.3 m. in 3,600.000 s.)
3600 second run n°7 = 39.28km/h [21.21Knots] (39,284.4 m. in 3,600.000 s.)

The total distance is 404.647 Km.

Huge effort Sammy, well done mate!

Sensational effort!!!!! Great respect!!!!!

Anyone who has had a good go at a one hour time will certainly appreciate the mind and body numbing prospect of doing 9+ of them back to back with hardly a stop in between. I simply cannot imagine myself doing that. The last 10 minutes of my best 1 hour was already playing tricks with my mind, the gybes were getting shakier and shakier and the speed form was already deteriorating markedly!

I was just trying to psyche myself up for a 300km attempt over the summer. 400? forget it!

I will be there for you Kato when you go for your attempt though!!!

From the look of the tracks and the terrain, Boggy Lake looks like an ideal location for big distance attempts. Hang on a sec.... was that an ONSHORE wind? With chop? Bloody'ell!
