Heres some of my footage from last year mashed together, all on the Gopro so you might see your self in the background.
Its my first real attempt with editing software, bit of a struggle with a 10yr old pc though. Its only the 1st rough cut and theres other angles and footage I 'd like to add to pad it out, so I can shorten somes scenes. I'm not going to bother for now as the pc just ain't up to the task and its painfully slow, enjoy it for what it is.

Cheers Spotty

Brad,
Ah tempting but unfortunately I've committed to ten days in NZ for the start of the World Cup and I've heard that leave passes won't be issued again until probably around March next year (in time for Burrum).

It would make for a great road trip - I know Luca and Ricky from T'ville have had a blast going to Speed week.

Lets book it in for 2012.

Cheers,

The video looks great but I have I question a lot of people seemed to be waking back up wind. How long is that walk? Is it easier to walk back than try to sail back?

We tend to run big sails on small boards and we are a long way off the wind, much more than then you would think possible. So to tack back up wind on a 400mm board and a 200mm fin in 3ft of chop is hard work and there,s a good chance that you,ll spin out and punch your knee through the bottom panel. Having a weight jacket doesn,t help either.

But walking back is hard work too .1.8km is the most you would walk, but you can walk about half way and then sail

I mostly sail cos i hate walking, it has to be very windy and choppy for me to walk back

That has got me thinking - has anyone ever thought about making a fin that slots over the top of the smaller fin so you can point it hard back up the course? Fixing it with a grub screw or similar would work.

even just carrying a larger fin and changing over at bottom of the course. Seems a lot easier than having to walk it back (says person who has never sailed there )

You could but it also would be like going up a sail size. Not a lot of fun if your already maxed out on your current sail.
About time you came down and tried it out yourself and drag Vando and his tall mate too. There,ve been missing for a while [}:)]

Cool video Spotty.

Snags,

I accidentally put my 32cm in the speedboard instead of 24cm last time at Sandy, felt s^%$ down the course but wondered why i could sail straight back up the course. On inspection of the fin i realised i put the wrong fin in.
