Do any board manufactures offer Speed boards with 100 litres of volume and 52-53 wide?
I know slalom boards would full into this bracket but the 100litre slalom boards are also 65-68wide and 52-53 wide slalom boards come with only 70-85litres.

I had a look at Chris's New 53cm CA Speed and it packs a fair bit of volume.

Pretty sure Chris said the 53 was around 86 litres.

Choco , could always have one designed and built!!!

I had a look at Chris's New 53cm CA Speed and it packs a fair bit of volume.

I've got the SP50 which is 83ltrs and it gets going very easy even with big sails but with my weight in gusty conditions i need the extra 20ltrs.
Might get one built but it's a matter of knowing what will work i like the rocker line in my Manat 67 the board rides nice and flat and is reasonably fast for it's size so it could be a starting point.

I think the 53 cm is 91 l.

I have an CA SP60, it is ~105 l. I think this board is going to be tweaked and re-introduced to CA range. Might lose a little volume as well.

Slalom rocker and speed rocker are different.

I'm sure James Dinnis will make you a floaty custom CA speed rocker board for only a slight premium over the stock range.

I think spotty might have a 120 odd liter CA speed machine on the way,but it doesn't seem to worry him how wide they are... they all do at least 43 knots

Where i sail on the lake the smoothest water is close to shore but it gets gusty,my Manta 67 works very well but i really enjoy being on the SP50 simply because it feels great to sail the only problem is that it suffers in the holes and being 104kg doesn't help,the feel of the SP50 is what i want in a bigger speed board.
I could glue my SP40 on top of the 50 and that would give me the volume i'm after hmmm....

And with a massive wave fin in it too The Kode 112 is fast but tops out around 41-42 with its increased tail and nose rocker compared to my previous 71wide 117L Aero which would nudge 43.
Though one could say anything that goes over 40 has speedboard cred', well you should try pulling one of these wide boards up in a straight line without heading up into the bank at SandyPt when you goto slowdown.

I figure a good speedboard will allow you to go fast and survive.

The CA SP53's volume is 85L, the SL series have 0 tail rocker and the SPs' have 1.5, the first run I did on Slowies SP53 I peaked at 44, it was hard to hand it back over to him after that run, its one sweet board and pulls sweet gybes too.

Pugwash any pics of your custom SP60??

this combo comes out to 143 ltrs i wonder if i could glass them together?

SP60 was part of the original range of boards. Shape is similar to the smaller boards, just wider. This board is definately for heavy riders, when <95 kg, it can be a handful.

Choco if you dont mind going slightly old school the Drops 8'10" is the perfect board. 96 liters volume, 53 cm wide. www.windsurfingmag.com I rate only two old school boards the original F2 Sputnik 270, good for 43 knots, and the Drops 8'10", also a rocket ship. Even Slowboat rates it as a goodun!

Thanks for the info Roo, are the mast tracks on the Drops boards set back to suit todays sails?
I have emailed CA and James said it would be possible to squeeze another 5 litrs into the SP53 which would make it 90ltrs but he does have to run it by Chris first,if this is ok to do it would be one sweet board for the lake

The old 270 Sputnik had the mast track too far forward, mind you I got 43 knots out of mine with a 2006 Naish Stealth!

well the sputnik and the drops have to much volume in the tail and the rails are to boxy for chop, but if you want volume you need to stick it forward and scoop out the mast track to get your sail on the deck and allso resess the foot straps and have as little as posible volume in the tail

i tend to think that wide boards are for slalom, there more forgiveing in the jibe and you can tack them , if your just free rideing and dont have to tack a board and your mainly blasting you dont need wide boards, its not the width that get's you onto the plane its the flatter rocker

I have one of the Drops boards and let me tell you, there is NO WAY that the volume is 96 litres. I can fully float on my Falcon 90 with rig (I weigh 76kgs) and when I get on the Drops it sinks to the bottom like a stone if I'm not moving at all.
I'll have it at Speed Week if you want a blat Choco...
*edit-- oops, just watched the vid Roo, mine is a newer version than that board, but it still says 96 litres on it and it still sinks

I think Starboard aren't the only ones guilty of using "apparent volume".
I have a Thommen supposedly 100l, and at my 68kgs it only just floats me, I'm sure my rig and wetsuit etc doesn't weigh 30kgs.

So be careful about modern boards, claimed volume, it doesn't always equate.

As a backyard "custom CAD"/CNC board builder, I know the exact volume for every board I build.

Seems most windsurf production boards are being designed in Surfboard CAD software which is unsuited for Windsurf Boards.

The board sitting on the machine wasn't CNC milled.
As my backyard CNC machine build was taking excessive time (years +$'s) I was desperate to have a small speed board, the board sitting on the CNC mill is a modified custom Styrotech 9'2" Course Slalom board. It is now 47cm wide/ about 65litres, cutouts where added to make the board work.

As today the backyard CNC mill has just finished milling my 1st CNC board , 52cm/ 86 litres.

When I'm recovered from the mammoth task of CNC milling a board for the 1st time I will add a new topic "Backyard CNC Speed board build".
