A big adventure today that we had been planning for quite a while and it finally came together. 2 boats, Six people, 4 sailors. I wanted to check out the Nautical Mile run at this spot and we thought it would need an Easterly. As it happens, that is correct, but we had a North Easterly and that run was just too broad and choppy. What we did establish though, is that it should fire big time on a true easterly!

So we sailed the next bank south just inside the entrance. Here the wind was almost square, perhaps 10-15 degree biased at best. There was a nice little curve in the bank right at the entrance though which had a bit more steady wind and super flat water on Starboard tack. We started in only 15-18 knots of wind, but it gradually built to 20-22kts with a few 25 gusts by the time the tide changed. When the tide changed it got pressure waves and rolling waves from the sea on it, so I think this is a Ebb tide spot only. It's a great, easy spot to just blast up and down in a NE wind, but would probably be a bit bumpier in 30 knots as it has a gradual sloping bank, making you run about 15m from the sand.
The name? This is the heartland of the Corner Inlet Great White spawning grounds!

Not many gybes were missed today.

I could not sail due to Sciatica, so I put test GPS's - including the new Motion GPS - on one of the others. It didnt really bother me as it was great fun to watch and film, and quite an adventure as well.

The yellow path line is 6km so its about 8km to 'Shark Bait'. The red line is the NM run.

Pics and videos to follow soon.
