Hi, is there any windsurf school / trainers or private lessons in Darwin or near ? (anywhere where the temperature ir over 25 Celsius on winter ) looking for 2 weeks windsurfing intense lessons taking advantage of my vacations.

Tough place to learn. Extended family is from there. No way would they even think about floundering about in water learning any new water skills. They reckon its a road to disaster.

I have just been in Darwin. The warm weather was delightful and the water is very inviting but the crocodiles are not.
I would not consider windsurfing there, especially as a beginner who will spend a lot of time in the water.

I live in Darwin, and have been windsurfing here for well over 10 years.
A lot of people dive regularly as well (lots of wrecks).
It is a great place to sail all year round, with crisp clear dry season days, blowing mid morning, or sometimes late afternoon.
Wet season can be quite something in the lead up to a cyclone. Some of my best days on the water have been in the Wet.
More concerned over lightning than anything in the water.
I quite like the negative warnings from southerners as it keeps helps to keep our secret.
There are really great beaches, depending on the wind direction. Rapid creek or Fannie Bay, or further round on East Point, although I have found some new, unexplored clear wind areas just outside Darwin.
Jeff at Funsupply may still teach, but he is really more dedicated to kites and SUP.
He changed direction a few years back (needed to make a living I guess), which meant freighting gear from down south or Singapore.
Consider asking Jeff nicely if you want private lessons (maybe with a SUP board and a sail).

wow thanks everyone for the responses, so I have to look for other places to learn, I have just learn (by myself) how to beach start, but no planning yet, I want to learn jibe, waterstart and if lucky give a try some waves in my 2 or 3 weeks vacations, yeah these days many SUP people (too bored for me) any ways will give a call to Jeff or try other country 'cause I wouldn't like to vacation in a cold weather. peace! good winds

Really? The water certainly did look inviting. Do you not fall in, or are there not many crocs in the ocean?

People seem to think there are crocodile everywhere in our waterways in the Top End.
Yes, in rivers like the Daily, Adelaide, Mary, Finess etc crocs are prevalent. Where we used to swim in the Douglas-daily in the rapids, we can't anymore. People still fish these rivers every day.
However, in the harbour and main ocean beaches, we go in regularly.
Fannie Bay has the Darwin Sailing Club, Trailer Boat Club and the Ski Club. Mindil Beach has lifeguard patrols in the dry season, and Casuarina has a surf club, with little nippers every week.
Cullen Bay has dragon boat racing. There are a huge amount of people kite surfing at rapid creek. Jeff at fun supply makes his living out of SUP and kiting.
Fannie Bay hosted a big swim event a few weeks back. The day before a croc was seen cruising by the same region. People still swim. Water sports are a big part or our lifestyle all year round.
Yes there are some crocs in the water, but they are plenty of sharks in the southern waters both east and west - there seem to be more reports of shark attacks in recent years on both coasts.
Does it stop surfers / kiters / windsurfers from frequenting the beaches ?
Calculated risk wherever you go, north or south.
I will always windsurf here. I haven't pulled a wetsuit on for 12 years. Aside from my new onewheel+ it is my favourite sport.
