You really can't go past the original digital can you ?

I have a Vaavud as it fits into my iPhone 5. When I've compared it with other Mandural Mobsters windmeter units it seems to give a pretty much identical reading . It fits into earphone socket ( so needs no battery) and looks pretty when it spins round and round too. The Mk 1 is $50 from Whitworths

The cheap ones work well, for a while then the spinner wears out. Only the Kestral lasts a long time and then the spinner is replaceable so it basically lasts forever. Waterproof too.

I've owned the Weatherflow for a couple of years now and it's pretty good. $65 AUD. Plugs into a smart phone and you get readings via an app. From my experience, the handheld wind meters always seem to read lower than what you might expect. 25kts on my Weatherflow is absolutely cranking and the Botany BOM reading will be 35knts.

I use this new-fangled one. It has both ranges; high and low.

I didn't think any car speedometers were calibrated in knots . Or did you just do a conversion?

Official wind readings are meant to be taken from 10 metres above the ground, not that all BOM readings are from that height.

No, I calibrated the bottle against my Kestral 1000

Oh. I was thinking you were drinking the Corona in your convertible as you were driving down the highway.
