Hi all
Im currently using a bombora exit but the foot strap has pulled out. i"ve been trying to repair it but maybe its just time for a new board?
Being thirteen i dont have the most amazing pile of cash
any suggestions?

i am sailing at rodd point and botany bay and am interested in slalom. i have a supercam worldcup slalom but need a longer boom for it. as for size im 56 kilograms and i dunno how tall

Hi, Fabian,

If the repair to the Xit fails, you might consider a used Mistral Flow (green) or an F2 Ride 274/279, around 100/115 litres volume mark. I THINK that the Xit came in 2 x sizes:the first was about 120 litres and the second was about 112 litres and both weighed much more than the Mitral/F2 models. The Mistral/F2 models had an ASA skin, which made the board tougher (you can pick the ASA skin by looking for a seam lengthways along the the side of the board).

Keep your eye out on the 'Buy and Sell' section on this site - as summer nears there will start to be plenty of hectic activity as people start to upgrade etc.
I think WindmanV is right with the volume - about 110L (you'll need that little extra float for Rodd Point) but try not to get anything to narrow, aim for around 60cm.
Rodd Point can be pretty demanding on equipment too, so aim for something thats built a bit tougher.
When you see something that interests you - post here again and ask for opinions.

there are a few boards around. there is a RRD freerace that has about 108l of volume, an f2 ride 277cm, an f2 sunset slalom 272. there is also a mistral flow 274 at wind surfn snow.

the f2 ride sounds like a good buy to me

if the f2 and the mistral both cost $600 which do you think woud be a better buy?

I don't have any experience with either of these two boards - Have a read of these two write ups and make a judgement from what you read. Look for what type of sailing you want to do and what you would like in a board. The Mistral sounds like an easier board to control in chop something a light weight would be looking for. Both are good boards - for their time.

im buying the f2 as they can deliver the board to me for $500 (the price of the board) whereas if i bought the mistral it would cost more and i'd have to convince my dad to drive me up to wind surfn snow

Well done on fixing the foot strap - how did you do it?

I would have driven my son to WSnS in a flash if he was buying a board.

I took out the insert but couldnt get the bolt out so i made up another bolt (a longer one) with some bits of stainless to keep it in better. then i filled the hole with epoxy and the repair is stronger then the original one
