Hi Shadow,
I would definitely not buy any X9 or other NP boom. I don't know anything about the Enigma.
I've had an X9 wave boom for over 8 seasons and its been pounded, bounced, thrown, pulled, dropped and generally thrashed continually over that time... and that's just by the bag snatchers at airports.
It's done at least 5 overseas trips and a multitude of runs from NSW to WA (and at least 2 to SA)
It has rarely been washed with a hose, but regularly washed over the falls and the rocks with a 95 kg kook holding onto it.
I'll get to test a Severne Enigma in a couple of weeks so can't comment on it till then, but am pretty stoked with 8 years of service out of ANY boom

I have the enigma severne.
I recently sailed Maui for a week on a NP x6. Was disappointed with it.
Last year I sailed a chinook carbon. Nothing wrong with it. But prefer my severne.
Hey Yuppy not sure if you are aware but the X6 is not a full carbon boom (only the tail piece is carbon) so it's not an apples for apples comparison against the enigma or chinook 100% carbon booms.
For the record I've used the X6 a few times and I'm not a fan by any means (or a fan of any ally boom) You would have to be crazy to go any ally boom over a carbon in my opinion.
