I am looking for some advice to improve early planning and if possible straight line speed of my Reactor 2016 99 litre.
I only had it out in more or less direct onshore conditions. Three sessions in very marginal wind and 2 sessions in well powered 4.7 condition and one in over powered 4.2 . In marginal wind I found its planning threshold not really lower than my Angulo Chango 88 litre.
I hoped my new board would plan a little bit earlier. But saying that it turns very well and goes very well upwind, even non planning.
Now to my question.
The Reactor has no toe in but quite a V around the fins. Would toe-in reduce drag and increase speed and early planning ?
If so would you use asymmetrical fins in front and symmetrical ones in the back?
Did somebody tried the Reactor in twin mode, perhaps slightly bigger fins eg 18 cm k4 fins?
Do you have any other advice re tuning the board?

This board is a bit of a oddity. It replaced the Black Box, after one year. It's to me very specialist.

The Back Box is near the top of a short list of the worse boardsI have ridden . It no surprisethen that the Angulo performs in planing, early , early planing is a term that with quads applies only to other quads, being yet slower.

To address yourquad, fin question.. rear yes stay symmetrical , I suggest the front asymmetrical and using K4 , Ezzy version you have the option of built in toe in. 2 degree would be my pick. Between the front and rear needs a balanced symmetry in shape and size, especially true on a quad, all that area in the water increases drag, your enemy.

If using K4 rear, I would consider Leon, flex version first, then Stubby or Rocket, they all perform well with minor variance.
Early planing , can get better when you find the sweet setup. Top speed seems a mute point on a wave quad, but it should approach the single and better than a tri fin setup.

Going twin.. faster, planing may improve, a more lively skateboard feel, some prefer, some not. You would go slightly larger than the quad size rear.

I had a 77l quad, Starboard, the Drake fins that came with, all 6, were like new when I sold it. This is purely a matter of preference and the number of other fins That I deemed more appropriate for the platform, I'm certain that many use the Drake fins supplied and are happily sailing along.

I highly recommend the K4s.

I could live with the speed of the Reactor I was rather faster on it than a friend on a JP Quad Twinzer 76 litre both [ he 70 kg i 88 kg] on 4.7 sails. But I would really like to tune the board optimal for my sailing and have no experience with Quads.
I bought the board to have more fun in smaller DTL or on-shore conditions and hoped it would extend the range towards lighter wind.
I was considering the Ezzy k4 for the front. Would you rather go for front biased setup eg 12-14 cm front and slightly bigger rear fins?

I like larger...just say 15 rear and 10 front. I feel this allows earlier rail plant with smaller fins forward. This really is a personal feel.
Last year I tried , large fins forward, something like 14 and 12 rear, this combo made turns really balky, once I started to carve the forward Fin really became a pivot point.

Since I like the larger rear, I stay that way, it may be useful to try all 13cm fins
