There's a bloke in craigie who sells camping and 4wd gear on gumtree. Cheapest around, camping4wd.com.au i bought a few things from him and never had any problems.

He has swags that look ok. A mate has used his a few times any never an issue.

Do you need a swag because you have way too much gear now Darcy and can't sleep in the van? ?

What makes people go for a swag over a simple two man tent and sleeping bag?

I find the idea of them odd and would rather be "inside" a tent, but obviously many people like them otherwise they wouldn't make them.

...which is why I'm asking. Are you able to explain?

Where do you keep your gear? I've had my pack broken into by possum's too many times when it's left outside, and that's what I've always thought would be one the main drawbacks with a swag.

I'm talking about the swags that have a very obvious "small end" that is only large enough for your feet. I get claustrophobic just looking at them. I'd classify some of the ones in the link posted by BSN101 as tents.

(Not my red thumb BTW )

I cant press like enough times sausage. Being from the country in WA I can say a swag is a great investment, sleep anywhere, even under the van

Convenience of just being able to throw it out anywhere you need. Doesn't rain much in the country but they're still waterproof if you pull the main cover over. Gear just kept in your car of course unless the possums around your area can operate a key fob.

I ended up buying a 5 person tent at Wal-Mart for $60 for myself and it does the job. Cheap way to go, holds all my unused gear when out on the water and I put it all in the tent at night when I camp the night.
