Interesting that the majority of options shown above need less wind than windfoiling.

Great stuff. One thing is that the freestyler on Garda has a lot more than six knots of wind.

Not really. In 15 knots on my windfoil, I'm on a 4.7. In 10-12 knots, I can be on a sub 6 m. The windfoil requires the least amount of wind to sail past displacement mode. That matters to some people, who crave that feeling, and not to others, who don't care as much about it.

Fun is not something I, nor I'm sure most of us here, measure objectively. All those things look fun in some shape or manner. We all do what's best suited for us given where we live, the experiences we want, the means at our disposal etc. Good luck in finding your happy place for you.

I'm not sure that freestyler is in 15kts unless its 15g20. They are efficient but still need quite a bit more than a foil.

Nice to see a video where people struggle to get going after a wipe out or bogging between sets.

The wind gets so light in the vid. There's times it would be lucky to be 5 knots. For me that's wave sup weather but at some point I'd love to be able to do it on a shortboard. Just need more confidence and skill

When it's super light I struggle to catch the wave.

It says less than 15 in the video. Looks like it's around 10-15. The little boats in some shots don't like winds over 15knts and the other windsurfers are dredging.

That aside I can plane at 15knts so I'm sure the pros can.

Yup. I reassesed what I was doing a few years back after Watching freestyle friends rip apart a light wind session while I was on an 8.5m race sail and formula board which at the time was my lightwind setup.

As a result I switched to smaller freestyle wave gear. I never quite managed to learn to Vulcan but managed to learn how to get smaller gear going in lighter air and never looked back.
