Were these a production item?
How much would it weigh, and how would that affect a modern board's performance?
If you got it for 5 bucks, would it be worth more as scrap?

I have never seen nor heard of one. That is weird.
Elliptical slalom fins for US boxes were last common about mid 1990's?

perhaps it is a normal glass fin that just happens to be painted silver, but the seller doesn't know what it is?

There was a guy in Lennox Head that used to have a steel fin. That was sometime in the mid 90's. George Greenough was making a bit of crazy looking stuff at the time and I think he influenced a few of the locals. There was a fair bit of weird home made stuff around that time.
Was good to see.

should make wave fins, could run straight over the reefs then.. not real good for your fin box...

When I lived in Wollongong I was friends with a bloke who worked at BHP in the casting section. He made windsurfer fins like that one.

Seen a few using them on the sunny coast in the 90's. Never ssen them since!!!

Also seen solid aluminium fins too, for the price of one you could buy 3 glass fins.
