I have a Natural 5.8 which I got off a mate very cheap because he had no need for it,I use it on a 100lt freestylewave board and although it seems to have heaps of grunt, it has such a long boom length it seems to get uncomfortable very quickly.I ended up last time I used it putting a hole in it with my knee.I will not be repairing it,instead I will give it away to a youngster and stick with my Ezzys which are far more durable and comfortable.

I think you answered your own question. What size/s are you after and what for?

6.6m for freeriding and maybe a bit of wave sailing, cos they sound like a good allrounda

Never used a North but i'm looking to buy one at the moment and i've always seen them and very well made high end sail.

I 've used heaps of NP's all being a while ago and they were good but would not use one again just because change is good and there are lot's of other sails out there.

Ezzy's are great and build is top draw, i've only had two but would look again.
I mainly use Naish but they don't seem as good as they used to be hence the interest in a north (7-8m).

The only brand i just don't like is Gaastra as i've had a couple and they were both awful for me.

No brand is good in every area (not just windsurfing) so pick the sail you like and sod every body else.

It's good to be different.

Jez, no insult intended but from your posts you seem to be an early intermediate kinda level (?)
If so, any brand will be fine, as long as you rig it right you will not feel the difference between a NP wavesail and a North wavesail, or a Gaastra camless freeride vs a Maui Sail camless freeride.

The only considerations are (in no particular order):
No cams probably (learning to waterstart)
Price
Mast compatibility.

As you already have a North 5.8, if you are using a North mast (or another mast that is same bend curve) then the 6.6 North Natural is probably a good idea.

I started off with a North 'Style' 5.8 in 2001. So easy to rig and easy to sail. I bought 2 subsequent models (just had different names) of the same size over the following years. Just as good. I did feel they wore out pretty quick though, but in fairness they got a lot of use, never got washed or dried, and lived in my work van. I posted my thoughts on this forum and some guys agreed (no-one disagreed) I also still use North masts for 'bump n jump' and only broke one on 10 years. Good value I reckon
