Hi I'm looking at a new board just wondering how many litters you need to float you while up-haling? would a 118 liter board be float a 75 kg person?

will float you quite well. you shouldn't have any problems

generally about 25 litres more than body weight (unless u r 150kg) will give comfy uphaul ability including the rig. i think a litre of esky foam will float 1kg weight just at the water's surface

Frenchy how experienced are you, is it your 1st shortboard?

The less experienced you are the more volume gives you more stability and more room for error. So if it is your 1st board then you should go bigger. If you are moving down to it from some time sailing on a bigger board then it will be fine.

Haha haircut. It shouldnt matter if you are 150kg provided you still retain athletic ability. I'm sure dave white could show us it's possible (and then he'd probably go on to show us he can uphaul a 100L board whilst he's up to his neck in water ).

Thanks for your advice. my boards are around the 75 litter at the moment dont usually head out unless it's 20knt + but a few mates got in to the sport last summer and I got sick of siting at the beach giving them pointers without being able to get on the water with them. Ones just getting water starts and I thought this would be a good size to pass on to him when he's ready to steep down a size.

If you're capable of sailing on a 75L board, then you'll have no problems uphauling on a 95L-105L board.

I'm about 82 kgs and my 105L board floats me comfortably.
