wondering what peoples thoughts are of the boards? particularly the larger 123lt in the ocean.

Had an old 63 Slalom (110l) which was great in open ocean. The nose ran quite high and it had the right amount of nose rocker. Killed it by hitting a tree at the Pit

Yes, A+B was much nicer to ride and better suited to open ocean long distance. I can't get comfy in the S B foot strap positions, there just too far apart and I'm 6' I also found the isonics just too short in length to deal with swell. Did my first 300+km day on the AB so I do have a soft spot for them. Looking at a new board?

I don't like overly short boards either. I think it's a trend.

I did have an Isonic 111 and I also had a demo of an AB+

Both boards performed nicely. The differences as I remember the SB (2009) took a bit more work to dial in. The AB+ had sharper rails and felt a bit more direct. Also I remember it being quite composed on a down wind run through chop.

If Seabreeze goes back that far, you should be able to find a review I did (around 2009) when I was looking for a mid size slalom board around 110L.

I cant vouch how either would compare when hitting an inanimate object, we dont have many trees growing in our pond.

I bought a 110ltr 2010 a+b slalom. Only slalom board I have owned . Love it it's the go to board for me. My son loves it as well and now we fight over who gets to use it.

I have 3 of them. Got them off Matt Langer who got them off Chris Lockwood.

They are great in the ocean not sticky at all. You can sail them overpowered with no handling issues. Can also use a small sail on a big board as well.

Chris got some good speeds on them.

Before I bought them he told me they are very good for smaller guys as the tails are not as wide as some of the newer boards

I must admit to liking a bargey arse on a board. being a heavy weight that is.......

Had the 2011 Mistral 123 Screamer which is the exact same shape as the slaloms, just with a different construction of a glass-carbon-reinforced PVC sandwich compared to the slalom which has more carbon and has the footstrap positions set a bit more inboard. I also sailed the Slaloms and to be honest there wasn't any difference in performance and the Screamer 123 was all i could get at the time in this size, the importer had sold out of the slaloms.

It was a great board, the extra length helped it easier to ride in chop and the ride was a lot smoother compared to the iSonics i used to own previous to it and i also found it less technical to sail compared to the iSonics. One thing i did like and it's the same with the new slaloms is the volume is distributed evenly in the board so when slogging you don't get the nose diving you get with the iSonics if your weight is too far forward and tacking is easier because of this.

Would still be in my board quiver, but got the 2013 Mistral Slalom 112 and 137 so moved it on as i didn't need a board of this size anymore, the 2 new slaloms cover most of the conditions i used it in, but i did keep it's little brother though, the Screamer 95 which is one of the best boards of this size i've used when it comes to sailing in chop, just like the 123 the ride is nice and smooth.
