Hi all
Just bought a cple of maui T8 sails - first cammed sails. Rigged on fibrespar carbon mast but cant get them to rotate. Short of trying to find a maui mast, anyone had this prob or have suggestions?

Check to see if there are any spacers in behind the cams, if there is remove them.

Are they 2021 or newer sails?, cause they used to make their masts with a stiffer top bend and sails to match, but then more recently went to a constant curve bend.

then check with maui sails about mast requirements, give them 4-5 days to get back by email.

And how old are the masts? We're you told they were correct for the sails?

When I was formula racing, I used some Maui Sails TR race sails, from 3 to 8. Those all required what Phil McGain called "stiff top" bends. That was very important for shape and performance for those sails.

With the TR-X generation (which followed the TR-9), they went to constant curve. 12% and up bend curve.

I don't even know what a T8 is. If it happens to be a TR-8, you still need the stiff top bend. 7%-9% bend curve.

When I couldn't find Maui Sails masts, I found that the Gaastra Ignitions in the 2002-2004 vintage had the same bend curves. They had the same layups and tooling as the MS masts did, just different markings. This was for the 520 and 550 sizes.

The Fibrespar Quicktip from around 2001-2005, had a hard top too and worked well in Gaastra's race sails at the time.

So it really depends on what year (and type) the sail and masts are from.
