My board has a little bit of water in it, it was bubbling from the vent while screw was screwed in. So I bought a new o-ring, no luck, so i got a new screw, with a new o-ring. No luck again. Now looking closely at the vent hole it looks like it has a slight bit of damage to the top of the thread. Could this be the problem? Any other ideas? Im thinking that if water can come out of the vent then theres a pretty good chance it can get in... Or does anyone know someone who could fix it for me in Vic preferably on the peninsula?

I had this problem with a new surboard I made, the vent I bought for it was moulded and the mould line ran right thru the seal area. Had to do some very fine work on this ridge to get the thing to seal.

The thread shouldn't be a problem, the seal is between the head of the screw, the O ring and area of the vent recess that's under the screw head. Examine this area, for any thing that will stop the o ring touching all the way round. If you can't fix this with, you could try some vaseline or surfboard wax, under the o ring.

Bennett surfboards in NSW have goretex vents and inserts, if you prefer not to have to worry about undoing/doing up screws.

Another thought, if the vent is part of the mast track, that can be modified to suit the goretex vent.
If the vent is separate and cannot be fixed, it will have to be replaced.

And yeah, bubbling is a sign of water inside, you could turn it upside down, with the vent undone and as low as possible, leave in the sun for a few days. This won't get all the water out but it should help.

it sounds like you have cross threaded the the thread and thought you had it tight either way you will have to fix and make sure both threads are cleaned up,once you have water in your board you will never get it all out, therefore a chance of delam futher down the track, so take the tip from decrepit and get a goretex, there not hard to fit, i imagine bennets would tell you what size hole you will need and glue it in with aroldite, i allways use a single glass roveing to wrap the goretex houseing but it's not necessary
