Neither, both will be bankrupt in two years.

Stupid boring race with two stupid boring cars that are basically the same as each other.

for more exiting racing they should fit the cars with James Bond type features like missiles, tack throwers, oil squirters, smoke screens, even ejection seats !!!!

tander stalled the start and then fried the clutch, leaving him last off the grid. clutch came good after a few laps.

Oh well, you can thumb down my thoughts but that does not mean I am wrong. Both Ford and GM are in huge difficulties in America. They will have to both do something drastic to survive. First thing is to stop wasting money on racing cars that are increasingly unpopular and start spending money on developing vehicles people want to buy.

Why I am annoyed about this? Because the NSW government spends huge amounts of money on this car racing, both at Bathurst and now in Sydney, while it can't find money to pay police or teachers a decent wage or have a first class public health system.

don't take it personally moby,

funny stuff reading the supercar website, they claim it is the fastest growing sport in australia.

i thought the fastest growing sports were windsurfing, then soccer, then roller derby.

yes moby, nsw politics is in the ****! 1 billion i believe. but that's not V8's fault. bathurst in my humble opinion is the greatest race ever held. best circuit too!

anyways, while we are thinking of the past. bring back lakeside!

Don't forget the year Richards won in a written of car. "BANG" writes of the car on forest elbow then declared the winner!! - Still can't get over that!!

I already know the result - otherwise I would have put my money on the 'saftey car'.

Bias! Conflict of interest! You need a disclaimer that Holden pays your wages...

Commodore may be the No1 seller (just), but not for private buyers.

Sorry for the anti Commodore and Falcon bash. When I meant no one, I know people still buy them. However fewer individuals buy them. Even fleets are getting alternatives. I used to work for the government and had two Falcons then one Commodore and I liked them. Back then petrol was about 60 to 80 cents a litre. Now its roughly double that and it doesn't look like petrol will ever go back under a dollar a litre.

However I stand by my view that these cars will soon become obsolete. Neither Ford nor Holden should rely upon them if they want to keep building cars in Australia. At least Ford recognises this and will soon be putting together the Focus in Australia. Its a pity Mitsubishi Australia didn't push for the Lancer to be made here instead of getting lumbered with the 380. Maybe Holden should push for the Volt to be made out here.

What really annoys me is a state government that says it hasn't got any money, but can find $40 million to host a car race around the Olympic stadium.

In regards to the racing, I do think its boring watching two cars that are very similar to each other and have nothing in common to a car you can buy. I remember when lots of different sorts of cars raced, like Bluebirds, Cameros, Jaguars, Suzuki Swifts, Falcons and Commodores. It was great. Mount Panorama is a great track. All they need are great cars racing it.

What annoys me though is a government that says it has no money but gets it arm twisted to fork out $40 million for a car race around the Olympic stadium.

Correct Nobody they do , but no need for a disclaimer, was just stating a fact.

I could get into a huge debate about the OZ car market, market share ,reasons why, pros and cons, fuel costs, tariffs, globalisation ect ect, ect but won't as this is a Windsurfing forum.

There was something in the news this morning about the American parents holding merger talks a few months back... The talks failed because Ford(?) backed out. Really would have been falcodore or commocon or whatever it is that they call it...

Does seem like it was that popular: www.autoblog.com/2008/06/25/gm-ford-merger-brought-up-in-boardroom-immediately-shot-down/

BTW, Lovey, how about getting 'em to pull in those front guards a bit and making the wagon back a little higher and a little longer (say 20 cm - like my VZ)

By that rational you must find the racing in the PWA very boring to watch also. Lets face it, most of the gear those guys are using is very similar regardless of brand, and most of the boards and some sails are prototypes which you and I can't buy.

But many of the most competitive, interesting to watch forms of racing of any kind are on single spec craft/vehicles. NASCAR has for many years been very closely monitored to ensure the cars meet spec, many forms of sailing follow the same sort of rules. And I have a mate that races in the V8 Ute series in which many of the top finishers in each race from that category are on a dyno after the race to ensure they haven't exceeded the allowed power output of the cars.

Ok, so I will put my hand up to being a passionate rev head. Motor racing is up there with windsurfing for me, I have in the past been involved in a few different forms of racing and if the budget would permit I would be more involved right now. Unfortunately the cost involved in motor sport makes windsurfing look like a little kids past time.

Yesterdays result, even though I bleed Holden red, was a good one. After having met Lowndes a few times I can say he is a top guy, still a bogan at heart. It's a shame that one team can put two drivers that are so high up in the championship together. With the form of these two and the way 888 are going I don't think anyone else really had much of a chance.

Ok, so back to the windsurfing now...pray for wind!!!

One thing that has pissed my off about Holden is how the changed the name of the Holden Rodeo to the Holden Colorado. Rodeo is for Aussie sounding. Why the hell do we want to drive a car named after a American State?? As we have seen in the past years is if the Americans do it then we have to. Also Australia is becoming a lot more Americanized with the Introduction of Hummers and the Ford SUV thing that has come out in resent years.

I thought the PWA racers now had to use production equipment. Can't say I make it a habit to watch their races though, more of a doer than a watcher. I dunno but probably for $50K or less you could have the gear required to compete at the highest level.

In regards to winds, I went windsurfing when the big race was on. It was a beautiful Sydney day with a bit of a seabreeze.

Pittsy, you have to remember that Holden is as Australian as Yankee Doodle Dandy. 100% American owned. I too hate the way Americanisms flow into Australian language with the SUV term being one of the latest and most stupid.

I used SUV 2 describe the type of four Wheel Drive as some people would not know what I am talking about and yes I know Holden is an American company. A lot car manufacturing companies change model names for different countries.
