Having lived there you can have a look at Safari Lodge. the guys there do Windsurfing and kite hire year round it can be a bit on and off? but that side of the island is pritty consistent. other options are Natindola beach but you would best bring your own kit? and once again pick the days. Safari lodge would be your best bet. Nadi Bay can work but its gotta be blowing its ase off.

I took 1 board, 2 sails, boom mast etc to Fiji last year and stayed in the islands.

Sailed 8 days straight in 20-28knt winds, crystal clear warm water, sails left rigged up in rack on the beach........

Paid nothing extra to take my gear in two board bags with Fiji Airways.

I don't understand why more people don't think of Fiji for a sailing holiday?

Agree its a great place ..coconut trees warm breeze ..white sand Fiji bitter.I took one board ..110 litre 7.0 &6.0 ..sailed every day at plantation island ..it was June ..but the trade winds where amazing .
they have gear to hire there ...but it pretty awful .
locals are cool on the island ..very helpful ..beware of the Karva ..hits you in the back of the head ..and you get real dopey .
taste like crap ..keep a beer handy to wash it down ..

Went to Safari lodge about 4 years ago was great. Went there by myself,no family or friends with me. Meet some great people there. Had a great time plenty of booze and sailing. Went in July and was a bit disappointed in the wind strength. Was using 6.5 mtr pretty much every day. Though it might have been a bit stronger than what it was. Gear that they had was good stuff but you could see it was well used. Don't know what it's like now days or whether they've updated/upgraded No shops or anything else if you're taking a woman.

I've been going up there each year since 2004, in the June- July period.

Not sure what it will be like in march as the windy season is mainly May-Sept.

Look at flying Qantas as their bag limit is 30kg not 23kg like Fiji airways.

Most of the time its 6.0m weather, however this year (june 2015) was the strangest since going, I had four days sitting on the beach just looking at the wind - as it was 4.2 weather and I didn't have one!

Which part of Fiji?

Did it have lots of coral?

Did a day trip to castaway island a few years back and was suprised when there was a Naish freeride board and 6.5m on the beach. The local guys told me that the gear was new and normally doesn't last long though. So I would bring your own. Castaway has a reef on one side but on the other there is a channel about 1 km wide where you can lanch off a sandy beach and the wind is cross shore. There was plenty of water to sail in any tide however there is a bit of a current running at times so you want to be powered up with a decent fin. Castaway is apparently one of the best resorts for families, however it is a bit expensive and you have to book early. (At least that's what they told me).
