I tried an electric gun last century some time to paint a car, while spraying it was ok, not so much overspray. But when I took my finger off the trigger at the end of a run, a big droplet would land on the car. This means I had to point the gun away from the car before releasing the trigger, ended up throwing it in the bin, and going back to a compressor.
Things may have changed though.

I looked into these, and found a small compressor was better, more useful aside from painting.

no regrets.
i don't know anyone who uses one.

I bought one to spray my fence . It was under $50.
Good for fence painting but that's it. It was very splattery.
Im not sure about the more expensive ones.
Id definitely go with the compressor.
One MUST own a compressor .

If you're spraying anything with thinners/flammables in it, be very wary of electric spray equipment. Most are designed for water based paints and the motor will not have an isolated spark. There are units around, good ones start in the thousands.
Thinners + electrical sparks = ......
