I got fined/flashed $100 on Albany Hwy Traffic lights under Leach Hwy overpass for doing only 68km/h. The red light cameara doubles up as speed camera. They are watching you.

If you spent more time reading the newspaper or watching the news instead of looking at crap on youtube you would have known what those funny new box's are at traffic lights are.

With them Amber lights definitely don't mean accelerate

Here's a tip I picked up for dealing with speed cameras etc.

First, take note of the posted speed limit - there are lots of signs around so you should be able to find one easily. Then use the speedometer on your dashboard (it's usually in the middle somewhere) in combination with your accelerator pedal to match your speed with the posted limit. This prevents the triggering of speed cameras.

Works like a charm!

Speed cameras generally start at 6-8 k's over before they spit out a fine (up to 9 k's over over in WA is $75 with no demerit points), the new speed and red light cameras are a pain in the butt, no such thing as punching through a stale amber light anymore.

Not any more. You don't lose points until you're 10km over but you still get the fine. You might get away with 3 km over... The new multinovas are supposed to be very accurate and a limit is a limit. I got pipped for doing the massive speed of 58km/h. Unfortunately it was a 50km/hr zone, not sign posted, though a residential area. I had thought it was a 60 zone because it was quite a major thouroughfare with lights at each end. Unfortunately they took three weeks to send out the notice, and by then I had been pipped three times without knowing I was doing anything wrong!

Thats what i hate about speed cameras. No qualms about being caught and paying the fine, if im in the wrong im in the wrong but they claim they save lives when the offending person is still going on his merry way with out slowing down and no knowledge theyve been caught till two or three weeks later. More patrol cars are whats needed not cameras, at least you know youve been done when your pulled over. Instnant result off reduced speed. But yes it is easier to stick to the speed limit so we dont get caught

Have to agree, these cameras are not about safety but money. They are ususally stuck in places where the road is straight and there is good visibility. Rarely are they placed in areas where motorists naturally slow down such as sharp corners where if its taken at too high a speed in wet weather its possible to lose control and have a head on with a semi trailer coming the other way.

There is easy and obvious solution to all speed camera problems.
GPS logger implemented into your car recording constantly all your trips.
Once a year your data are downloaded to local authorities compared with road maps and you will be issued with one massive bill.
Possibly even need to sell your car to cover.
Then you switch to push bike, that is much cheaper to run and avoid speed limits infringements worries.

Why not ! This is very cost effective and efficient system.
GSP now is available at $100 which means positive return on investment even if governmnet give you GPS for free.
I am sure will pay for them self within first week on speed infringements with extra bonus for parking infrigments !
Pure saving and cash cow for city coucil .
I don't understand what there are waiting for ?
Then also possible improvements on road tax -we will be paying by kilometers of road usage.

Too late now, but for next time.. this is the kind of thing writing a letter can often get you out of. It could have at least got rid of the second and third fines.

Working at Beeline couriers 15 years back,i quickly finished deliveries and headed down the river before returning to base.

Wrote my [Beelines] 6000km on clock Econovan off, did eventually return to base courtesy of a large pick up truck.

Hit the backside of a ute at 70km/h,which in turn hit the car in front.

Never, ever take your eyes off the road...ever.

Question regarding highway motoring governing groups duty of care:

X motorist fails to see a change in speed limit sign, regardless of why, he/she fails to notice the new reduction in speed limit sign.
Directly after the sign, a km or so, same motorist drives through a speed trap, but is blissfully unaware he/she is above the posted speed limit, and the old system “you have just past a speed trap in WA” signs no longer displayed, X motorist continues on at a speed above the posted required for that portion of highway/road
Misfortune takes place, and the unfortunate motorist is involved in a motor vehicle accident, while still in the reduced speed zone. Fault of accident not in equation.
However due to speed of X motorist, at the point of the accident, significantly more damage is done to vehicles and occupants of same.
So, using the process applied to the business Industry, that knowing a hazard exist, and no action taken by the business, some considerable onus is placed back on the business for failing to make people aware of a hazard and an accident takes place.
So I pose, the traffic management group aware a motorist is above the speed limit, why no direct action taken to make that motorist aware, via a warning sign or some similar alert system?
And no hasn't happened to me, but knowing the process in industry and some rulings on workers compensation being impacted from a worker failing to notify business of a hazard and Vice versa , compensation and fines are directly impacted….
