Hey Jeff,I'm still using 4.7 its an old sail but seems to work ,I'm planing, not airborne yet in 18-20 kn,getting further back on the tail not quite in straps or hooked in ,just getting a feel for foot pressure and mast position my boards about 120l but its not specified I can up haul no probs but trying to get comfortable tacking, brought a 5.3 but can't get it on my old one piece mast, def looking for bigger rig but not rushing in,not ready to out lay big bucks yet, used gear is cheap just need to get it right, enjoying the progression can't wait to start boosting ramps haha.

Mort69. How did you get on?
What size board and are you in harness and foot straps?
I'm a beginner 90kg and use 6.5-7.5 on a 220l board at 15+k planning in harness and playing with foot straps Going through the catapult stage :-(
I have trouble up hauling on 150l boards in chop so for safety sake staying on the bigger board until I can reliably waterstart
Cheers Jeff
Hi Jeff
I like you are getting started again in the sport - I am 105kg and have bought a 200l board with a 4.5m sail - What is the Catapult stage?
I am going to get a lesson from Suncoast sailboard guys to get started again
cheers
Morgan
