Hello all,
I'm a beginner windsurfer and I've been renting my equipment every week for about 2 months. I thought it would be a good idea to get my own equipment. I bought a board (F2 orbit) , 3 sails (Rushwind 15'11'' and 2 Gastra 5.7 meters), mast and extension, mast base, boom, and 2 harness' for $150. The Rushwind has a hole at the base corner near where the mast would go and the board has some scratches and dings on the bottom. Thank goodness there aren't any breaks.

I have 2 questions:
Is it possible to repair the Rushwind sail?

I feel like the entire bottom of the board needs to be touched up. How would I go about doing that because the bottom of the board feels different than a surfboard?

Hi onescribe,
The answer to question 1 is any sail is repairable but given the age of the sail, and the condition of the sail through being subjected to UV, is the sail worth spending the money on? Is the hole in a clear panel or in the mast sleeve? Does it detract from sailing?

As for "Touching up" the board, What exactly do you mean?

Maybe some pics of the sail and board would be helpful to answering your queary.

If youre in Vic/ Melb I would be happy to help out.
Good luck

most of the pictures are scuffs but the second picture is a deep gash I don't think it goes to the foam though.

thanks for the offer moondo but I currently live in Florida on the Atlantic coastline. I know this is an Australian site but I thought I could get some good tips from you guys. Australia is at the top of my list to visit though!

Sail: Grab some clear sail repair tape from a marine shop or off ebay
Board: Epifill epoxy putty

All up for $150 if you get some good fun from the gear its a bargain, welcome to windsurfing

Or just sail it as it is. None of those affect the performance. Then again the scuffs will probably come out after a fub with car polish.

If car polish is to slow you could use a fine wet & dry, about 400 grit should do.
